Amberkit woke up in the middle of night. She was thirsty and she wanted to get a drink from the pond near the Elders den.
She carefully stepped out of her nest an padded out of the den. Hazelfeather was quietly whimpering in her slept.
'Probably a bad dream.'I thought, padding towards the pond.
Featherflower and Dewleaf were standing guard at the entrance. Dewleaf muttered something to Featherflower before running over to me.
"What are you doing out so late Amberkit?"She asked me. "Getting a drink from the pond."I told her, continuing my way towards the Elders Den.
"Stay here for a minute. Let me get HoneySong, she'll take watch while I'll take you to the pond."Dewleaf said, dashing towards the warriors den and returning with a golden she-cat.
"Now we can go to the pond."She said, leading me towards the Elders den. I followed her and lapped up some of the water from the pond. Dewleaf also took a drink from the pond.
She lead me back to the Nursery but, as we approached the bramble bush, we heard low moans of pain. Gorgetail slid out of the den.
"Fetch BubbleEyes, HazelFeather's kits are coming."She said before turning back into the den.
"I'll get Stormgaze, you get BubbleEyes."Dewleaf whispered urgently before dashing across the clearing to the warriors den.
I turned around and darted for the medicine den, a small sandy clearing with a rock split straight down the middle into a cave where the medicine cats slept and stored their herbs.
I pushed my way through the ferns and into the clearing. Hollypaw was asleep in her nest. I poked her with my paw, hoping to wake her up. When she continued to sleep, I nudged her. Her only response was a mumbled before turning over and completely ignoring me.
'Why do I even bother trying to wake her.'I thought before running into the den.
BubbleEyes was asleep in her nest but, she raised her head as I ran into the den. Her blind gaze searches the den.
"Who's there."The old medicine cat mumbled tiredly.
"Amberkit. HazelFeather's kits are coming."I told the blind she-cat.
"It's too early."BubbleEyes said before bolting out of her nest and to her supplies. She ran her paws quickly over herbs before gathering a few and darting out of the den and stumbling out of the clearing. Hollypaw was scrambling out of her nest. "
What's going on?"She asked me as I ran out of the den.
"HazelFeather's kits are coming."I said before running after BubbleEyes. Hollypaw was limping after me. Just as the two medicine cats stumbled into the Nursery, FeatherFlower screeched.
FeatherFlower collapsed underneath a black tom and HoneySong let out a warning yowl before tackling the tom.
Ravenfeather poked his head out of the Warriors Den before disappearing inside and returning with Moosehoof, Harewing, Jinxclaw, Jayflight, and Creamheart. More strange cats streamed into the camp for the entrance.
The warriors tackled the rouges and the clearing erupted with battling cats. VelvetHeart and Starnose appeared at the entrance to the nursery. VelvetHeart darted into battle beside Starnose. My mother disappeared beneath a black she-cat and VelvetHeart grappled with a bulky tom. Lifestar was slashing at a pale rouge, his eyes filled with fury. Tigerkit and Darkkit appeared beside me.
An orange she-cat was dashing towards us. She crashed into TigerKit and Darkkit and my siblings struggled against the she-cat.
Hazelkit, Quickkit, Cloverkit, Brittlekit,and Leopardkit were watching in horror from the entrance. Softkit pushed past the others and let out a yowl before jumping onto the she-cat. The other kits followed and soon the she-cat was covered in kits, all biting and scratching the orange rouge.
Brindlepaw and Eaglepaw were struggling with a dark tom outside the Elders Den.
Speckledpaw, Mousepaw,and Volepaw were struggling to get over there to help them. Bluepaw was fighting with a grey tom with a scared muzzle. Appledawn fought side by side with her daughter.
Flamepaw was struggling to fight off a tom three times his size. Without thinking, I joined in the fight with him.
The battle seemed to last for seasons. When it was over, the only thing I noticed was a limp white and brown body. LifeStar.
