I let out a deep sigh, and looked out the window. I don't know what would have become of me if I did not have a seat by the window. English class was by far the worst, despite my passion for writing, I can never concentrate on anything. Maybe it was Ms. Kirk, she isn't a Mrs. for a reason.
"Aveline!" I look up at the tyrant of a woman calling my name, "Detention, today after school". Another sigh found itself escaping from my lungs as I went back to watching the city from the window. The school was built on the largest hill in the city, the reason is unknown. Maybe they just like to torture the overweight kids who have to walk to school.
A piece of paper landed on my desk and I looked down at it, furrowing my brows. It was folded neatly, from the looks of it, it was not an assignment. I picked it up and ripped it into two pieces, he never seemed to get the message. Jace, the only person who payed attention to me, was also one of the most annoying people I have ever met. I think he has developed a stalkerish crush on me, but no one can be sure. Its not that he is not attractive, he is just one of those people you want to sink a knife into.
Detention and a creepy boy, my day was complete. I reached back and pulled my hair out of its ponytail, letting my curls of fiery red hair fall onto my shoulders. Maybe that is why no one talked to me, I had no soul. I laughed at my thoughts and received a few odd looks from across the class. I shot them all a nasty glare and soon enough they returned back to the lesson at hand.
My eyes find their way back to the window, I don't know why I was so interested in the city. Something felt off, maybe even a bit eerie. I was not too sure about my feelings but I knew something was wrong. The city was calm and quite like usual, I couldn't put my finger on it, but something was just different. I decided to ignore it and tried to focus on my current objective; poetry. The lesson was about as interesting as a sleeping dog, unless the dog was running in its dream, then it would have been interested. No one was on the floor kicking their legs, so it remained the same. I found it quite difficult to focus on the lesson, I was ready to pull my hair out until I heard the rumble of a plane. I looked out the window to see a very low flying plane. Everyone looked at the plane confused, even Ms. Kirkwall stopped her lesson to peer through the window. There was no airport nearby, so why was there a plane so low?
After a few moments of talking among each other, Ms. Kirk brought order to the classroom and continued the lesson. I kept looking through the window waiting for something to happen that may indicate why the plane flew by. As if the gods had been listening to my thoughts, I could hear the roaring of another plane. This one was much more powerful sounding, as if it was made to kill.
Not only did it sound impressive, it looked ferocious as well. The sleek black plane soar through the air, almost tearing the roof of the school off as it flew over. I could feel the whole school tremble from the massive power this plane could create by just flying. Everyone stood in awe at the plane, a few girls even found it necessary to scream. Suddenly, I felt like this maybe this would be my last few moments. I knew I was overreacting but I couldn't help it, I could see terrified looks on a lot of people. If they were not scared, their jaws were dragging across the floor in pure amazement. If I was not thinking that we would all die right here, I would be pretty excited about this.
Everyone with a phone pulled it out and was looking through the news to see if they could find anything relative to the situation. One boy was about to speak up, but he quickly silenced himself as he lost his connection. It was no surprise, the walls of the school had some sort of magical ability that blocked cellphone reception in most areas. Ms. Kirkl was on top of things though, and turned her computer on. She gave her computer a puzzled look, and then started to fiddle with the wires, it seemed like even she was having difficulties with Internet. "Hold on class, I will get someone to fix this", as she spoke everyone calmed down and was ready to eavesdrop on her conversation.
