[Wyomissing, Pennsylvania]
September 2003 - 7th Grade

The first thing she heard when she opened her eyes was the sound of her alarm clock ringing.

The blond girl groggily sat up in bed lazily opening her eyes as she put off the alarm clock beside her bed.

6:00am.

It's too early. Better get back to bed...

She lays back in bed almost drifting off again when Andrea, her mom, knocked on her bedroom door right on cue.

"Taylor honey, wake up. You're going to be late for school."

"Five more minutes mom." Taylor answers sleepily while placing her head below the pillow to tune out everything.

"Get up honey, or your dad will be driving Austin alone to school today."

"Fiiine. I'm up! Relax mom!"

That made Taylor get out of bed. She hates taking the bus alone to school with all those popular kids, anyway.

"That's what I thought so." Andrea says with a hint of a smile in her voice leaving Taylor alone and went to fix her kids breakfast.

30 minutes later...

Taylor came down the stairs wearing a blue knit sweater, a bonnet to keep her curly blonde hair together, and her eye glasses.

"Good morning honey!" Scott greeted cheerfully as he looked up from the news paper he was reading.

"Morning dad... and mom." Taylor greeted back as she kissed her parents on the cheeks.

"Hey Ali, what about me? Aren't you going to kiss me too?" Austin pouts at her sister.

Austin likes to call her sister 'Ali' since 3rd grade that the entire school got the hang of that nickname ever since.

"Oh right, I almost forgot." Taylor replied rolling her ocean blue eyes as she kissed her little brother who was smiling playfully.

"Eat up kiddos. I can't be late today, and so do both of you as it is your first day." Scott says, finishing his cup of coffee.

"Taylor. Aren't you excited at all to meet your friends? Why are you picking on your food?" Andrea asks worriedly as she looked at her 13 year old daughter.

"I'm a little nervous mom, that's all. And you know I don't have any friends at school." Taylor says sulkingly.

Unfortunately, because Taylor is so wrapped up on her world in music, she finds it extra hard putting up good relationship with her classmates in school. She just got no time to spare.

"Well I guess you should work on that young lady, you shouldn't put up walls around you all the time. Mingle if you have to. Not that I'm pushing you. Just promise me you'll try atleast."

Taylor thought about that. She kind of did put up walls ever since she started to write songs when she was in 3rd grade. She valued nothing more than her songs to the fact that she started to become antisocial.

Taylor sighed. "Okay mom. I promise to try."

"Good. Because we have this new neighbor in town who just moved yesterday, and they have a daughter who is also in 7th grade. That could be a good start." Andrea says with a smile.

School

Taylor got out of their convertible and held Austin's hands after kissing their dad goodbye.

"Be good okay? Especially you Austin. No more fistfights."

Austin groans. "Fine dad. But not if they started it!"

Taylor smiles at the stubborness of her 11 y.o brother as they walk towards Austin's homeroom. After seeing Austin get settled, the bell rang. Taylor's room is not that far, but she ran all the way to get there.

As she went over a corner she ran into someone and went spawling over the hallways. Her glasses was nowhere in sight, and her vision is totally not helping.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!." said the blurry figure in front of her who was probably the one she ran over.

"My glasses..."

"Oh! Here you go. I'm sorry its so clumsy of me." the blurry figure handed Taylor her glasses as she pull Taylor up and steadies her as they stand.

As Taylor put on her glasses, she was greeted with a sight of a brunette with two beautiful green eyes looking at her with worry and concern.

Stunningly beautiful. My favorite kind of green.

"Can you hear me? Hellooo. You're like just staring at me for 30 seconds." the green eyed girl says grinning from ear to ear.

Say something Taylor! She is talking to you!

Taylor feels her blood pool to her cheeks, heating up as she finds her voice.

"I'm s-sorry. It wasn't your fault anyway. Thanks." Taylor giving the green-eyed girl a small smile and looks around the hallway.

Thank God nobody saw that. Phew.

"It's fine. I was having difficulty finding my room anyways. You know, being new and all." she sighed.

Okay Taylor, mingle. She's the new girl here. This is your chance.

"Oh maybe I can help! Let me see your schedule."

She gave her schedule to the blonde.

Woah. Strikingly beautiful blue eyes. I could drown in them...

Taylor took the schedule and saw they had the same classes.

"Oooh! We're classmates! Our room is just around that corner." Taylor replies smiling, happy to meet the new girl in town.

"Wow! That's great. Come on then." the girl replied happily, quite relieved to make a friend already.

"I'm Taylor by the way, but everyone here calls me Ali, which is short for Alison." Taylor smiles at the green-eyed girl.

"Wow! Your name totally suits you. I'm Karlie, but you can call me Eli, short for Elizabeth." giving back an ear to ear smile.

They went inside the room together grinning at how their nicknames clicked.
