He managed to play two notes before he stopped, shook his head and laughed softly before looking up at us.
"Ok, so don't laugh. This is one of my favorite songs and I tend to sing along to it. I may not have a beautiful voice, but I can't help it."
I smiled at his honesty and nodded. Hey, I sung along to my favorite songs too and I didn't sing. So I wasn't a person to judge.
He took a couple of deep breaths and then began to strum the first few chords of his song. Those few notes were all it took for me to drop my mouth and stare at him speechless. No he didn't do any fancy or hard chords; what surprised me was that I knew that song by heart. It was one of my favorites too.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise......I couldn't help but to sing along in my head, knowing it was hopeless to resist not doing it. I faintly heard Nathan's soft voice and I smiled, laughing to myself as I remembered his warning.

Into the light of the dark black nightNathan quickly looked up at me with a smile and I couldn't help but to avoid his gaze and blush. I faintly heard Mr. Zee squeal with delight and I couldn't help but to take a second and ask why?

You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to ariseAs he slowly finished off the song and the last notes hung in the air, I joined my hands and clapped along with Mr. Bass and Mr. Zee, smiling widely. Both teachers were right about him being able to play and I laughed softly at our stubbornness. Suddenly Nathan started to clap as well and the smile disappeared as I stared at him in confusion.
Why was he clapping for himself? I looked at our "teachers" and found them looking at me, smiling hugely and still clapping.
"Oh my god, Claire!! You didn't tell me you could sing!!" Mr. Zee all but shrieked in delight and I kept my frown. What did he eat for breakfast this morning? I haven't sang in front of him....
"I have never sung for you or for anyone. What are you talking about?"
"You were singing along and let me tell you, you can sing as well," Nathan explained to me.
"What? I didn't sing along. Well maybe in my head but not out loud!!"
"Oh no. Trust me. You were singing out loud."
What?? Since when?? And why didn't I realize I was singing out loud!??
"Hey, don't worry. It's not like you are ever going to sing again. It was nice hearing your voice and with Nathan's, it just added that little extra moment. You two can sing well together."
