POV: Lyla
" You can come in if you'd like." Luke says motioning me in. I twirl my hair and reply," Kay."
Luke drops his stuff on the coach and I stay in my stilettos. If you got it strut it. Luke sits on the couch and starts doing homework. HOMEWORK!? Why do homework when I'm right here.
I sit next to him and say," What you working on?" I touch his shoulder and look in his book. He looks at me like it's an alien sign.
" Uhhh...... just um fractions." he scoots over, but I do to. I cross my legs and twirl my hair. He goes back to his homework and I just look at him. A few seconds pass till he snaps.
"Okay, don't you have other things to do."
"Like what?" He shrugs and says," I don't know, like cook or clean. Maybe even homework." I shrug and say," I can do that stuff later." I scoot closer to him and look over his shoulder. I slowly move my hand closer to his. I'm about to make a move when bam! We are interrupted.
" MAIL! MAIL delivery!" yells the blonde boy in front of me. He holds paper and mail in his hands. He stops dead in his tracks when he see's me. The papers and mail flutter to the floor. His jaw drops and he exclaims," Who's that." He points an accusing finger at me. I walk up to him and bend down to his leave.
"I'm Lyla. I'm your NEW babysitter." I say it in a childish voice. Luke gets up and walks to his brother and gives him a fist bump.
"No, Lyla here is just a substitute for Emily today. Lyla this is Bridger." Substitute? I'm a substitute? I smile bitterly at Bridger and sit on the couch where Luke doesn't join me. Instead he walks into the kitchen with his brother and helps him with his homework. I follow and lean on the counter really bored. I never knew babysitting was so hard.
" I'm hungry." Bri-Bri- Brian says to me.
"So?" I ask.
" So, can you get me something to eat?" he goes back to his homework and I have no clue what to do. I just stand there and resume my position. Brian looks at me like I'm stupid and says," Applesauce would be nice." I'm I suppose to get him applesauce? I guess so. I walk over to the fridge and look through it's contents.
"It's in the pantry." Luke says to me. "Ya, I know that." I reply and walk over and into the pantry. My eyes search lazily and they land on the top shelf with the applesauce. I turn around and say," Luke could you get me it." He looks up and says," I don't see any reason why you can't." I turn back around and glare at the sauce. Jeez this babysitting stuff is hard. I'm never having kids.
I stand on my tippy toes and try reaching. I try jumping and climbing, but it's not possible in these shoes. I'm interrupted by Luke saying," I'm going running be back in a few." Then the door opens and closes. He is gone!? I thought he was suppose to be here the whole time. Just doing stuff and what not. Not leaving! Man, I broke into Emily's locker for no reason? UGH! Looks like I have to babysit these brats! I walk into the kitchen and fall on a stool exhausted.
"What about my applesauce?" Brian says pointing to the pantry. Seriously? He thinks I'll get him applesauce now?
" Get it yourself." I say as I cross my legs and look at my nails. He gets up and climbs the shelf easily. He jumps back down and sits in his spot. See he should've just got it himself.
"EMMY!" screams the little boy in the family room. He comes running in with a huge smile on his face. It disgusts me! He stops all of the sudden and turns to his brother," Where's Emmy?" Brian glances at me and says," Lily's babysitting us today." Lily? My name is not LILY!
"Lyla!" I yell as I get up walk up to the little boy who is startled from my exclaim.
" What's you name?" I say in a sing-song voice. He stands there frozen till Bryan stands up and says," This is Lincoln." HA! He's kidding. I scoff and say," Like the principal?" Bryan shakes his head and says," No, president."
