Home.
I had long forgotten about that place, it wasn't a terrible place to be. The memories of living and breathing under that roof, that's what haunted me, although, I cherished the joyful events I was able to endure, like meeting Chris, Angelo, Ryan and the rest, which brings me to my next topic.
Ryan and I had kept in touch, more so than Chris and the gang, I spoke to them, but more so, trusting Ryan with all my thoughts and theories.
Since I had been due to leave the bricked hell I was raised in, I managed to free Ryan a week later, now, given our age gap, it was bizarre, but I was a legal adult, so I could do whatever the hell I wanted to. Taking Ryan into my own custody was one of those adult-wishes, don't get dirty thoughts, at first, it was purely out of friendship, but I'm not entirely certain now.Off of that, today was the day I would be meeting the small band that recruited me, not too long ago, a small-town band, born and raised in California, where I was now residing.
Female lead singer though, she was fairly attractive, blond woman, tall in stature, for a female, given that I was still taller, and she had a frail figure.
I was on path to be their bassist, Ryan was attending the rest of his schooling at home, online.
He still had a babysitter though, and although he protested, so much, Vinny is still to take care of him, or make sure that he showers and grooms himself, he won't do so, unless he's told to, he has a bad habit of forgetting to do the simplest of things.I parked into a driveway of a fairly normal sized two story house, the garage door was wide open and I saw three figures in there, along with resting guitars and a beautiful drum set, I was in fact, in the right place.
But as if on que, my phone, with all of its might, caused earthquakes in my pocket, vibrating and blasting Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart, call me cliche, call me goth, I enjoy their music.
I excused myself from the members of the band, hopped back in my car and sped off to my awful job, there had been a crisis with the makeup, apparently the zombies were melting, their prosthetics had fallen off and they don't know how to use spirit gum. I sighed as I assisted in the dilemma, and making sure to teach them the basics of touching up, I didn't even have work today, it was my off day, Jesus fuck.I sighed as I dialed the band's guitarist, never quite getting his name, I apologized for leaving abruptly, but we rescheduled for a date further in the week, a Friday night, which I was pleased with as Friday's were my off days, like today.
It had gotten late by the time I had tediously redone all the makeup, dealing with whining teenagers for a sappy music video that somehow involved the undead. I don't understand this generation.
I returned to my apartment, to which I found Vinny and Ryan had ordered pizza, and were playing video games in the living room, I set my keys and art portfolio down, along with my bass that I had brought along for a band practice that never happened, this must of made a clattering sound, because as soon as I made my way to my room, Ryan had already attached to my arm, hugging me tightly, I hugged him briefly, I was gross and sweaty, I needed to shower, so I shooed him away, giving him the money to hand to Vinny, for the babysitting, or care taking, whatever you'd like to refer it to as.Among me emerging from my room, already clothed in minimal material, it was a hot night, and Vinny seemed to have shown himself out, upon entering the kitchen, Ryan hugged me from behind, I sighed and turned to face him, pushing a strand of his newly-dyed black hair, behind his pierced ear.
"How was practice?" He mused, looking at me with his warm hazel eyes, I smiled, leaning against the counter top,
"I didn't get to take my bass out, before I was called to a makeup emergency." I audibly exhaled, causing him to chuckle, he opened the previously ordered pizza box, taking out a slice and gracefully devouring the entire slice in less than two bites, which honestly, wasn't surprising. He then took a spot next to me, although he was sitting on top the counter, playing with my teased and tangled mess of hair,
"Ghost, you've seriously got too much work and hardly any free time, we hardly ever go out and have fun anymore, remember when we trashed Wal-Mart?" I burst into laughter, the memory was truly magnificent, we got banned from the shopping center, for an entire year.
We were known as the bunch of 'druggy-gay-goths' which was certainly a reputation we lived up to, somewhat.I wasn't entirely gay, I did however take an interest in men, but I didn't only limit my interests to one gender, Ryan however, fit the description perfectly, he was only interested, and will only ever be interested in dick.
As if he read my thoughts, he rested his head on my shoulder, wrapping his arms around my torso, which left us in an awkward position, as I still managed to be taller than him.
"Gho-Devin," he called, I hummed, in acknowledgement,
"Do you maybe want to go watch a movie tomorrow night? They're premiering the original The Exorcist."
Was he actually asking me on a date?
I couldn't turn him down, so I nodded, separating myself from him, grabbing myself a slice of pizza before retiring to my room. What a day.
