-Mother, forgive me.
She said and left her island for good.
She didn't know whether this was the right decision or not. She just knew that this was a chance that she would never have again. So, she accepted the challenge and that night with the silver full moon shining above Themyscira, she entered Athena's temple clad in only a purple cloak with a hood and stole the sacred armor of the Amazons and the Lasso of Truth and flew away.
She had pretty much always lived a life in the light, basking in the sun's brilliance of Themyscira, taking comfort in the friendships of her precious and dear sisters or bathing in the warmth of her mother's abiding, unconditional and infinite love.
That was what she had known at least until the day she first ventured into Man's World and came face to face with so many new people and men. It was incredible. So incredible that she was amazed from the first moment she set foot on America. And it was when she had to save the Winged Warrior from Thanagar, the one and only Hawkgirl, from the bullets of the enemies.
Hawkgirl was not definitely the type of girl she was used to. But she liked her because she was tough and stubborn. Exactly like her.
After, it was that guy in red. The Scarlet Speedster. The Flash. Even though he was a great warrior and he executed someone's orders and plans perfectly, he was strange with women and that made her cautious towards him. She always answered codly to his comments about her body trying to make him stop but he didn't seem to do so.
And then, J'ohn, the man from Mars. The last Martian alive. She felt pity for him. He missed his planet and his family so much. She could see him in his eyes. Those orange, emotionless eyes of the telepath. She had to admit though, that J'ohn was an excellent fighter and in battle he had such fierceness that she felt glad to have him by her side.
Furthermore, there was Superman. Another alien, immigrant to this planet. She had to admit that this man had made a great impression to her with his powers and perfect manners. Seriously, what kind of womam couldn't recognise the natural kindness and goodness of this meta human? She had found the brother that she never had in him and she was grateful for that.
Afterwards, Green Lantern. John Stewart. The Emerald Knight. The Guardian of Earth. The owner of the most powerful weapon in the Universe. It was good to have him as an ally but it was bad to have a discussion with him. He was extremely cold and showed hatred against her just because she was a woman wearing pants and she was talker than him. They argued the first time they shared a discussion. But she was trying to see his good side and that was his fierce spirit and skills in battle.
And last but not least it was Batman. The Vigilante. The Protector of Gotham. The Caped Crusader. The World's Greatest Detective. The Dark Knight.

And that was her very first time she faced darkness in her life.
