You groaned internally as you checked your phone to see what time it was.
2:07 AM
"Curse this insomnia," you muttered as you tossed and turned trying to get comfortable again for sleep. Alas, it was in vain for you were wide awake with no chance of going back to your slumber.
"I guess I'll watch some anime," you got up from bed, turned on your bedside lamp, and grabbed your laptop to stream (favorite anime). 10 minutes into the episode you felt your phone vibrate.
Jean: (Name), why is your lamp on? Are you having trouble sleeping again?
Slightly flustered that your neighbor and best friend knew what you were up to, you sent back a bit of a snarky response.
(Name): Dude, just because we're neighbors doesn't give you the right to meddle in my business.
Jean: The light from your lamp came through my window and woke me up, genius
You facepalmed and failed to think of a comeback.
(Name): Touche. And yeah, I am having trouble sleeping, but no biggie.
Jean: I'm coming over.
Before you could type "No" you heard the house door open and footsteps coming towards your room. "Why did I tell him where the spare key was?" you grumbled to yourself.
When Jean came into your room he crossed his arms and frowned. "This is the third time this week you've been up late, (Name). It's gonna screw your health."
"Not my fault I can't get a decent night's rest." You mumbled as you put your laptop away and got back into bed.
"Well let's see if I can help with that." Jean smirked before making his way over and getting into bed with you. You blushed slightly as he wrapped his arms around your form and pulled you close to him.
"Uh, Jean, what are y-" you faltered when he pressed a quick kiss to your cheek.
"I really like you, okay?" He said with a slight blush adorning his cheeks. "The fact that you haven't been sleeping well upset me a little bit. You have no idea how bad I wanted to hold you in my arms whenever I saw your light shining through my window." You smiled a little bit and gave him a peck on the cheek in return.
"I really like you too, Jean. And thanks." You snuggled into his chest and breathed in his scent as he held you tighter against him. Once he noticed you dozing off he pressed his lips against your forehead and whispered,
"Sweet dreams, (Name."
