(Wow, what's more cliché than a Christmas fanficiton? None the less, here it is. All rights belong to Marrisa Meyer. This story includes spoilers for Winter and shouldn't be read unless you've finished the series. Also, I can't get a straight on whether it would snow in Rieux so I decided it will.)

Wolf wasn't keen on the snow. It was cold and made working impossible.  The soft crunching was making him on edge. Usually his foot steps were silent and well measured but now they were loud and obnoxious. His ears pricked, hearing his name faintly from the house. Through squinted eyes, he could see Scarlet, her crimson hoodie standing out against the white. Taking care of the animals was never a fun task for him but Scarlet needed to cook and the animals needed fed. He broke into a sprint, running to the house. Scarlet smiled at him as he approached, shedding his jacket. A shutter ran through his body as he came into contact with the white flakes.
"Come inside" Scarlet urged, "You'll catch a cold."
He didn't need to be told twice. Kicking off his Lunar army issued boots (the only thing the fit his arched feet), he took a seat. The entire kitchen flooded with tantalizing smells. Herbs, meats, candies, fire, broth, all making his stomach rumble worse.
Scarlet briskly made her way to the stove, grabbing a large pot. She set it on the table, broth sloshing over the edge.
Wolf grabbed two bowls from the counter, as he had become accustomed to doing while Scarlet prepared dinner. A small smile played on her ruby lips as she glanced up at him. His ears pricked with curiosity.
"Have you heard of Christmas?" She asked, pouring his bowl full of soup.
Now, he had heard of Christmas- an earthen holiday that had lost its original meaning centuries ago- but he barely knew about it.
He shrugged his broad shoulders, pulling the bowl to himself.
"It's tomorrow." Scarlet explained, "I, obviously, haven't celebrated since grandmeré passed away" a shadow of repressed pain ghosted over her face, "but when I was young, it was my favourite time of year. See, it's about family-"
"We have none" Wolf cut in, looking at the bobbing carrots in his bowl.
"We have each other" Scarlet didn't disguise the frustration to her voice, "and I feel that counts."
With a deep breath, she composed herself once more, "well, its a gift giving holiday but I doubt that nesicary for it."
"What am I supposed to do?" The hybrid looked up at her, brushing his tongue over his protruding teeth.
"You're supposed to enjoy it." She sighed, shaking her head, "I thought I should help you become better versed in the traditions."
His attention perked again and he met her eyes, waiting for explanation.
"Well, first of all, theres the tree," she began, rubbing the back of her neck, "we haven't gotten one this year"
"There are plenty of trees outside." Wolf added, hoping that would help. Scarlet smiled faintly, "I suppose that's true."
   "Will they work?" He asked.
"Well, we're supposed to decorate the tree" she fiddled with the tips of her fingers, looking at them to avoid his curious emerald gaze.
"Decorate them?" The words felt misplaced in his mouth. The place he had been born on Luna was far from decorated, the capital sucking all of the life into the heart of Luna. He had known nothing but simplistic things and dreams of something less dreary before he came to Earth.
"Yes...I'm not sure why" she admitted, taking the aglet on the drawstring of her hoodie into her mouth, "we don't have to, I just thought it'd be fun."
"Sounds like it" Wolf hid his confusion with curiosity.
"I'll fetch the decorations while you eat." Scarlet decided, turning to leave.

Wolf felt embarrassed at the excitement he held for the odd activities Scarlet had set forth. First they selected a tree in the snow, and rather than cutting it down, decorated it with shiny, colourful orbs. Scarlet braided electric lights through the branches, making it look like stars in the pine.  She ran a hand through her orange hair, her breath misting into the air.

"Ready to go in?" Wolf paced from foot to foot, shaking his hair free of snow. She nodded and took his hand, her fingers warmer against his cold hands. The warm air spilling out of the door felt welcoming and peaceful.

"What else do we have to do?" he asked, sitting down at the table. She sat on the edge, crossing her legs, "well, there's gifts."
A frown tugged at his lips, "I don't think I can get you anything..."
"Don't worry about it" a smile quirked on Scarlet's face. She kissed his cheek, bringing a blush to his face and he squinted up at her.
"I think its perfect as is" she told him.

(wow I had no clue where I was going with any of this! Happy holidays)
