Prolouge

"Checkmate..." Said Ree gleefully, flicking Jay's King piece, watching it smugly as it skidded across the board. "I win."

"Yeah, yeah, don't get ahead of yourself." Jay grumbled, rolling their eyes. Sighing, they turned to Yalexis. "Any new news?"

"No." The black-haired girl shook her head, looking up from the tablet she was holding. "It seems the U.S. Army is on its last legs. Ever since we took the WhiteHouse, it's been easier and easier to get territory."

"Indeed." Dominick chimed in, pushing his glasses into a more comfortable position. "The rest of America is bound to fall and then-"

"And then it's ours." Ree finished. "So, what's the last state we need to claim?"

"Florida." Yalexis answered.

Jay groaned loudly.

"Oh come now, Jay!" Ree said enthusiastically, pushing the chess board aside and pulling out maps of North America. With a red sharpie marker, she quickly outlined the dreaded hot state full of old people and palm trees. "We agreed earlier this would be neutral territory, the out-lands. Now.." She said, pulling out other assorted colors of markers. "We divide the districts!"

Jay, Dominick, and Yalexis lunged for the markers, each lining out their territory. Ree easily pushed Dominick aside and took her claim on the land.

The boy with the glasses was left with California. "Damn you, Ree." He murmured, but he was smiling all the same.

"Alright guys." Jay said, clapping their hands together. "It's settled. Long reign The Lend."

"Jassof!!!" Yalexis called to the guard standing out in the hall. "Come in here at once!"

The sound of hooves clattered down the hall as an odd figure stepped into the room. It was a centaur of sorts, only instead of a horse it was a moose, and certain parts of it were metal. A cyborg-moose-centaur.

Warped but powerful all the same.

The girl spoke again. "Rally the forces, we leave for Florida at dawn." She said to the beast.

At dawn, The Lend would reign forever more.
