Clemens works in the garden. He labors all day. The only thing he likes is when he is with Grumio, his lover. Grumio and Clemens have been secret lovers since day one. They make passionate love to each other every night behind their master's back. Clemens was the one who came up with the plan all along. So shortly after Grumio is freed he waits behind the tavern for Metella and Grumio. Once Grumio leads Metella behind the tavern Clemens stabs her 17 times in the chest. She dies in great agony. Once they are sure she is dead they run away together and live happily ever after.
