So to let you guys get an idea of what the characters look like in my head, I'm going to put a cast list on each chapter, concerning the new characters that appear, and the roles that they've played that convinced me they were the right actors for the part. So look out for that in each chapter.
Cast:
Queen Analee - Cate Blanchett (Lady Galadriel, Lord Of The Rings/The Hobbit)
Lady Elia - Amanda Seyfried (Valerie, Red Riding Hood)----------------------------------------------
She stared out of the window, towards the distant south. From where the black mass of darkness was originating from. The queen knew this was his doing. This was the product of his dark magic. And she had a faint suspicion of what he was doing. The Dark Cloak, as it had been named, was slowly spreading from that far off tower, covering the once bright sky of the land of Elgon. And as each painstaking day went by, Queen Analee became even weaker.
She knew that she was dying, the cloud of blackness was drawing the light, where she drew both her strength and her power from. As she was the last of the Elder Federation, she was luckily the fairy affected by the darkness covering the land. But that was the plot. To rob the queen of her powers, as she was the only one with enough power to stop him. His dark magic was just too much for the power of the magic dust mined from Elgar stones to stop. But they would find another way. They always did.
As the gracious queen spied the tower, she couldn't help but think of the irony that she had once before trusted him. Count Sebastian de Valentin had once been her most reliable advisors. That was until his unrelenting greed and lust for power overcame his mind, and his want for the throne of Elgon. After making an an attempt on the Queens life, he was banished to his tower on the south outskirts of Elgon, and his wings were taken away.
But as everything is unpredictable with the count, he had done something even the queen or the Blue Fairy could not foresee. He had turned to the luring path of dark magic and castes a curse, the Dark Cloak, to rid the land of its queen. Now, he was slowly, but surely, killing her.
A sharp tap at the door startled her out of her reverie.
"Your majesty, Lady Elia is here as you requested." A guard called through the wood.
"Send her in." The queen ordered.
The oaken door never even made a squeak as the guard held it open for the young, fair haired, hooded woman to walk through the doorway.
"You wished to see me your grace." She spoke, presenting herself in a curtesy, whilst the door closed behind her.Lady Elia Spring, the Royal representative of the spring fairies, was one of the Queens oldest and most trusted friends. She could talk about any form of troubles she has with her, and she'd always help find a solution to the problems in the kingdom. Which is why she had chosen this particular fairy for this very important responsibility.
"You know better than that my friend, there is no need for formalities when it's just the two of us. Now, I wish to ask something of you. Come to the window, tell me what you see."
Elia lifted the hood of her sleeves cloak - that hid her wings when they weren't needed - down, and walked gracefully over to stand beside the white haired queen. She felt slightly out of place next to her ruler in only her travelling garments, a brown tunic dress with her light pink cloak, whilst her queen stood tall in her golden coloured gown that shimmered like the molten precious metal. Nonetheless, she stood proud next to her and gazed out of the transparent glass with her warm green eyes.
"The cloud, it's getting closer, we've all noticed. Within a matter of weeks, it'll cover the whole sky." Elia stated.
"And we all know what'll happen when it does. I can feel it, and Blue has already foreseen it." The queen continued sadly.
Elia turned to look at her, "it won't happen my queen," she said determinedly, "we'll find a way to stop it."
"That won't happen before I fade. It could happen any day, even before all the stars are covered. No, I will be gone before Count Sebastian is stopped. It is already written." Analee looked to her friend, remorse held in her silvery eyes.A pause overcame the two, before Elia caught onto what the woman was saying.
"You can't be speaking of-"
"The prophecy? Yes, I am. It is already foretold that just before the last of the elder federation joins the stars, a warrior of pure magic, a child blessed by the stars, will discover her true hidden self. That child will be the one to defeat the dark magic threatening the land. " the queen explained to her friend, even though all fairies knew of the prophecy.
"Yet these weeks of searching has lead us to no sign of this child." Elia reminded, "for all we know, this might not be the time for the prophecy to come true-"
"But it is, for I have found her."The young woman stopped talking and looked to her mentor. A silence overcame the room before Analee began to talk again.
"I spent some time consulting with Blue. She spoke to the stars, and they revealed the child to us."
"And is that why you summoned me? To inform me of this revelation?" Elia asked.
"It's not the full reason." The queen turned to see her friend looking at her with confusion, "this girl, in order for her to defeat the Count, she'll need guidance. Guidance only a trustworthy queen may be able to give her. For she cannot be corrupted by possible spies the Count may have at court. But, with me dying, I will not be able to guide her for long, and I have no heirs to ascend to the throne that can guide her." She gave a brief pause to let the young woman understand, before continuing, "which is why I ask you to guide and mentor her, and name you successor to the throne of Elgon."Ella's eyes widened in shock of being asked to take on such a responsibly.
"Me? Why me? I'm hardly fit to lead, I can't rule Elgon." She began to protest. Analee only placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Elia, I couldn't think of a better fairy to lead. You are my most trusted friend, and I have guided and mentored you all these years, knowing that you would one day lead this kingdom. I have decided you are ready. You are the perfect fairy to ascend to the throne. Now, do you accept the responsibility?"Elia became quiet once more, and only gave a slight hesitant nod of her head.
"Very well, your majesty, I accept the responsibility."
The queen smiled at her friend, "Good. Now, it's time that we brought this girl here, and begin to guide and mentor her, in order to bring this darkness to an end."
