She sat so still, the pale lids of her eyes closed, soft blonde hair hanging past her shoulders in lose waves. Someone might almost mistake her for a statue. But those who knew her closely knew better. She was simply meditating, strengthening her connection to the stars.
It came to her as a feeling, but spoke of something terrible happening. And when she was overcame with these certain obscurities, she always knew to meditate on them, letting the stars guide her towards each ones meaning. There she sat, searching somewhere outside her body for an answer to a question that hasn't yet been voiced.
The early evening sunlight filtered through the glass window into her room. But the light was darkened slightly, due to the Dark Cloak crawling ever closer towards the palace. It had already started to cover the land where the village lay, down the hill from where the grand palace resided. The lower half of the village being especially effected.
She had already seen the heart shattering images of the whole land cloaked, falling into a chaos of panic and fear. She had seen the queen on her death bed, speaking her final words to her most trusted and closest of friends. She had seen a hero rise from the darkness, guided by the magic that was yet to wake within her.
But know, another image came to her. She watched in horror as a girl with hair like flames, the exact girl that the stars had revealed, was taken by surprise. A pale hand Spring out of the shadows, muffling whatever screams she tried to let loose, and she saw her being pulled back into the shadows from whence the hand came from.
Her eyes opened with a gasp, revealing icy blue orbs, aged with what she had seen despite her youth. Immediately, she stood from her sitting position, and bolted out of the room, almost running down the hall, until she came to the door of her fathers, the Royal representative of the winter fairies, room. Composing herself, she knocked quickly on the door, and almost as soon as she had, the door opened.
"Blue? What's the matter?" Her father asked when he saw his daughter stood outside his chambers, a panicked look in her eyes.
"I must speak with the queen," she gushed, "it's urgent. I've had another vision."----------------------------------------------
As Amber approached the small street where her cottage was located, she turned and said goodbye to her friends, watching as they ran off to their own homes. She lived with only her father, but she might as well be living on her own, as she unfortunately lost her mother in the late childhood years her life. Her mother had died of a serious illness that couldn't be healed, even with the magic of the fairies. Her father, drowned by grief, became absorbed with his work as a merchant, in order to distract himself from the pain. He was away so often that Amber was usually left at him by herself, like she was just now, as he was on a trip to another town on one of his 'trades missions' as he called them.
To keep herself financially supported, she had taken up a job at the local seamstress at the age of thirteen, seeing as she had a talent in these arts. The job payed just enough to get her through each month, as well as the times when she was alone.
But whenever she was alone, she always had a second family. The Edwards were always there for her when she needed as she had become good friends with their two sons, Jack and Jacob. And she was always there for them, especially when grief dealt it's heavy blow to their family as well. They lost their father in a hunting accident, and Amber did everything she could to help their family out as they had helped her. Molly, the boy's mother, went into a depression, and the boys were relied upon to get jobs in order to keep their lives financially supported. Molly was doing better, but the boys still helps out, bringing their money in from Jack working in the forges, and Jacob took up a job at the local bar.
