Lola's POV
When I woke up the next morning, the smell of pancakes filled my nose. I loved the way Ms. Grier always made me & Pax breakfast on our birthday. It made me feel like someone,other than Paxton, cared about me.
I practically ran down the stairs & straight into the kitchen. When I saw her standing there, I walked up & hugged her & thanked her for cooking. She just smiled & said "Happy birthday, love!"
A huge smile formed across my face when Hayes walked down the stairs & came to hug me.
"Happy birthday, beautiful" he said when he pulled away. I blushed at his choice of words, & thanked him. He's so cute.
I've always had a 'thing' for Hayes. It's been for as long as I can remember.. But, I can't really tell Paxton about it because I don't know how she'd react. That, and the fact that he'd never go for me. I'm the complete opposite of what he likes. It's so depressing.
I snapped out of my trance when Pax came down. She had the biggest smile on her face, & I knew why.. She was excited about the surprise that was coming, & honestly, I was too.
I had no clue what it could be, but I hoped it was something, anything, to get my mind off of what's been going on for the last couple of weeks..
"Good morning, guys!" said Paxton as she entered the kitchen. "Happy birthday, bitch"
I giggled at her "friendly" exchange & replied with "Happy birthday cookie, I see that 18 hit you pretty hard.."
She walked over to the mirror to see what I was talking about & burst into laughter. She looked like a wreck, her hair was knotted & she has make up running down her face. It was the definition of a hot mess.
We all sat down for breakfast & ate in mostly silence.. That is until Paxton spoke up & said "Mom, I really really wanna know what the surprise is.. it's been killing me!!"
The grin that grew on her mom's face couldn't be any bigger as she began with "So, you know how Nash is coming home for the summer?"
"Yeah, what about it?" Pax looked anxious.
"Well.. I talked to him & he agreed to let you, Lola, & Hayes have his apartment for the whole summer in L.A!!"
When the words came out of her mouth, we all screamed. This is great, a whole summer with my best friend & my 'crush' .. I hate that word..
"Mom, no .. WHAT?!?" she screamed. "This is great!!"
Her mom smiled & turned to me "Lola, you need to go back home & pack because you guys are leaving tomorrow morning! I've already talked to your mom & she said that it's fine with her if you go."
I got up & hugged her. This is really great.
"Lola, do you know what this means?!?" Pax screamed at me with her hot ass morning breath.
I looked at her & at the same time we both screamed "SHOPPING!!!". Holy shit, we're so white.

Later that morning, I drove home. I honestly don't know what my mom's gonna say to me, if she says anything at all. She's so disappointed in the way I've turned out..
When I pulled into the driveway, I saw that her car was there. Great, I was hoping she'd be at a bar or something.. I walked into my huge house trying to avoid her at all costs, but guess what? That didn't work. She was laying on the couch watching TV.
"Lola, is that you?"
"Yes mom, I just came home to pack & get my things.."
"Good. I'm glad you actually listened this time.."
I rolled my eyes & continued to walk up the stairs. When I got into my room I immediately started packing. I grabbed everything so fast & shoved it into my suitcases.. I just wanted to leave my house.
I walked to the door, & took one last look around, checking to see if I missed anything. When I saw that I didn't, I dragged my things down the stairs.. When I hit the bottom I heard "Have fun in California, Lola.. But please don't come back here. I don't want you"
I looked back at her with tears streaming down my face. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be you, but I'm even more sorry that you don't have the heart to accept me how I came, you know why I am the way I am, but you never helped.. you never cared" & with that I left.
I sat in my driveway & cried for what seemed like hours until I got a call from Pax..
"Lols, where are you?"
I tried to change my voice so she couldn't tell that I was crying & said "I was packing up & couldn't find my straightener, I'm on my way!"
"You could have just used mine dumbass, but oh well.. come on, I have something to show you!!"
I'm really glad she couldn't tell how upset I was. It's her birthday, too & I'd really hate to ruin it..

When I got back to Pax's house, I ran upstairs to see what she'd been talking about earlier. She showed me that the tickets her mom got us were first class! & boy she was so excited.
I think she noticed that I was acting a little differently so she asked "Are you okay?"
"Um, yeah, just tired.. I didn't sleep well last night.. I think I'm gonna take a nap before dinner tonight."
She looked at me for the longest before saying "Okay, me too, but I want to know what your mom said to you tomorrow.."
God, she knows me so well.. I walked down the hall & into the room I've always stayed in. I ended up sleeping the whole day until Hayes came & woke me up.
"wakey wakey, dinner's in 2 hours" he whispered.
"okay, thanks babe" I said without thinking twice. Oh shit.. I've always called him babe when he couldn't hear me & now I called him it to his face.. Fuck me.
He looked at me with wide eyes & said "babe?" I blushed.. He said "Never thought I'd hear that coming from you, but I like it.." He stopped mid sentence when he saw the look I had on my face.
He got up from the bed & said "Well, uh get up & get ready.. I- I, we don't wanna have to wait on you.. bye" & quickly walked out of the room.. Talk about a change in attitude, that was crazy.
I got up & took a quick shower. When I got out, I brushed my long dirty blonde hair & put lotion on..
When I walked back to Paxon's room, she was already putting make up on. See, I don't really wear make up, but Pax's is always so pretty..
"Hey, beautiful" she said.. "What are you gonna wear tonight?"
I held up my outfit, which was a black lace tank/crop top with a tight black high-waisted skirt. I paired that with some black heels.
"that's hot, I'm gonna wear my tight white dress with those black strappy heels you love!"
"that sounds cute!! you look so pretty!!"
"awe, you never say that shit to me.. stop"
I laugh at her & walk into the closet to change. When I come out she says "oh my fuck you look so hot. Haye- I mean everybody's gonna think you look fiiine!"
I look at her & ask "who?"
"everybody" she says with a smirk & then turns back around.

Dinner went by quick, when we got home Pax surprised me with two big ass blunts.
"Reggie gave me half off cuz it's my birthday!" she said as she lit it..
When we finished, we passed out in her room.. Tomorrow's gonna be a good day.
