Chapter 1: Wounded at the soul.
Her long golden hair had loosen their shine now, in the dark faded grey room. Leila couldn’t spell a letter out of her dry mouth. Usually her lips were bright red, forming a little heart and she would keep her beautiful, golden hair tidy behind her ears. Now all that you could see were trembling, pale lips whispering the words “It can’t be happening”…
The nurse looked at her with pity and sympathy, wondering what to tell to the young girl. What can anyone say to a fifteen year old who has just lost her best friend? The one and only person she could rely on about everything since the day she was born. It was all a stupid mistake and a ridiculous argument that ended Leila’s world.
A tear went down her pink cheeks that Joshua always used to tease her about. She couldn’t bare it and just took hold of the nurse, bursting out in tears, while the nurse held her tightly in her arms. Heaven forbid my mistakes and bring back my angel… Bring Joshua back to my own arms, bring me my best friend to my wounded soul…
In her mind she kept playing back and forth the scene where she actually lost Joshua. Leila hurried to her best friend’s house to tell him the amazing news. Her ex had just broken up with his new girlfriend and he was interested again in Leila. Joshua just in the hearing of that got cross with Leila. She would let the man that hurt her feelings so badly, inside again? Not over his dead body…
Leila thought of how ironic it was that an hour later Joshua was now a dead body. She could date Drake now but she wouldn’t under any circumstances. Joshua run out into the street mad with Leila for her stubborn and careless character. He was screaming ‘Are you that stupid to date Drake-Joshk once again? I’m wondering what goes in your head sometimes Leila Windstorm. Do you even care about what happens next?”
Yes Joshua I do. But I never thought it would happen like this, not with the loss of you. While Joshua was standing in the middle of the street there was this truck coming.. It was really big and seemed to have made some speed… Joshua!! What do you want Leila?! Watch OU-…T.
She didn’t manage to tell him on time, to prevent the bad outcome… In just the thought that those beautiful blue eyes had now disappeared made her vanish forever. If only her brain could stop thinking and block everything out.
“They did everything they could…Leila, there’s nothing left to do. You can go and say a last goodbye if you want” the nurse whispered gently.
“He hasn’t died. I’ll bet you fifty bucks that he’s now in the hospital room watching TV laughing at the sound of the cartoons.”
“Leila…” the nurse took a deep breath, “come see yourself then if you want. I’m warning you thou. . . “
“HE IS NOT DEAD. Come on you old nurse and you shall see that he’s just fine.”
She walked the hospital corridor with so much confidence and surety… It might have been the last time ever that she was so confident and sure about something.
“Joshua…Dude wake up you son of a bitch. We were having a talk but you decided to play the super famous actor in a movie and jump in the road. Geez! Do you ever think man?” Leila was smiling waiting for a response..
“Leila he..he..He’s not going to wake up. I’m sorry…”
“Did you give him a very strong drug or something?”
“I told you before that there was nothing the doctors could do. Leila he is dead.”
“YOU ARE LYING! Get out of my face you old creep! You’re lying and I know it!! There is no way Joshua is dead. He’s just asleep. That’s all!”
“Leila. Please..”
“Don’t say please to me! You’re a liar! Get out of my face!”
Leila within seconds started running out of the room and pushing everything out of her way in the corridors, screaming, while hot tears were burning her cheeks. She pushed the front doors open and ran through the parking lot. She kneeled down on the hard tarmac letting the cold pouring rain cover all of her body and hide away her tears, yet not the redness of her poor, brown eyes.
“He is not gone…He is just not gone.” She whispered to herself and stood on her feet. She started heading home. “I’ll come back tomorrow when he’ll wake up and I know everything will be just fine…”
