Okay, to start this book review off with a relatively small bang, I'd like to quote one of my friends, JessicaxRice. *clears throat*

"OH EMMMM GEEEEEEEE!! Dude! Dude! This is, like, totally awesome!" -every day, multiple times, in a variety of paraphrased sentences, and occasionally in Chinese.

I know I'm pretty late to the trend, but in my defense, my parents hate when I read recreationally, so technically you can blame them. But get this people who haven't read the book...Rainbow Rowell freaking understands us! I know what you're thinking my unenlightened little muffins "How does a random Nebraskan author know how mentally unstable teenage minds work?" And I have no answer except for: SHE DOES!

Is there time for a summary? Imma summary...right now...currently...at this moment. So basically, this girl named Cather (who has a twin sister named Wren because her absent mom was too lazy to think up two names- get it? Cather+Wren=Catherine- it's complicated) is going to college, but get this- she's a huge part of the Simon Snow fandom. Simon Snow is like that world's Harry Potter, which centers around Simon Snow- the Mage's Apprentice and Tyrannus Basilton Pitch (Baz)- a [hot] vampire guy that both isn't Edward Cullen and doesn't sparkle (really a win-win for us amirite?). So, she like writes fanfic and has posters and merch and all those things that nice parents buy their fangirl children, but then she has to go off to college. She meets new people and gets a boyfriend and it's completely unrealistic at this point because she socializes! But she does it in a fangirl way and makes periodic Simon Snow references, so it's all good.

Also, between each of the real chapters, there's a snippet from the Simon Snow universe, like lines from the fanfic Carry On, Simon that Cath (aka Magicath on Fanfixx.net) is writing as well as other fanfictions and the canon Simon Snow books. And, guys, I don't think you understand. RAINBOW SHUCKING ROWELL IS MY QUEEN, do you know why? I'll give you three reasons.

One- "I don't have the ingredients necessary to make a pie." Wait- that's Alec Lightwood's line isn't it? Moving on...

Actually One- she created a Harry Potter universe that is not, in fact, Harry Potter. Nor does it seem like complete plagiarism of OTHER QUEEN J.K. ROWLING's work.

Two- SHE MADE A FICTIONAL UNIVERSE THAT I DO CARE ABOUT INSIDE OF A FICTIONALLY REAL UNIVERSE THAT I DON'T CARE ABOUT. Yeah, I don't really like Cather's life that much to be honest, I prefer Simon and Baz (who've taken over my soul).

Three- I don't think you're ready. No, really...you're not ready. SHE WROTE CARRY ON, SIMON AS A REAL BOOK! Yes, the fanfiction of the fake book series in her real book is now also a real book. You can look it up! Now you can see Simon and Baz's fabulous gay love in a real book! On pages! With words!

In conclusion, I should end this really short chapter with a quote as well. Let me just draw on my YouTube obsession for a moment...

"READ A BOOK!" -Connor Franta, the guy with the frantastic hair (is "frantastic" not a thing? Because if it isn't, I don't care...)
