Soon To Be Step Brother

Mom wants to talk to me....

It's Monday and I have a very important cheer practice today. That's only thing I need to focus on I can't have anything to distract me. I hear mom calling me into the kitchen she said she needed to talk to me...wonder what that's about. I run downstairs into the kitchen to see what she needs. "honey. We should talk, do you remember johns son Alex?"
John is her boyfriend he acts like a dad. My dad passed away when I was six and mom decided to go back into the dating world and found John.
Yeah why?? I reply to my mom
She starts to say "well Ari he moved out of his mom's house and is coming to live with us and John SURPRISE!!!" I stand there staring as she stares back waiting for a response. I say nothing and quickly she says "but honey he's coming tonight." I have nothing to say to her, I'm not mad but this isn't exactly my cup of tea. I walk off with a granola bar and a bottle of water she yells to me "oh ari this will be fun trust me!" And "have fun and be safe at practice later!" As I walk out the door with my stuff. I arrive at school thinking a whole lot about this new situation and kept trying to remember Alex, when my best friend had just walked up handing me a coffee she bought me. And then I remembered.... I scream OH NO!! And drop the cup of coffee. She asks what is wrong with you! I searched through my old messages from mom and remember a picture she had sent to me of Alex from 4 years ago and oh no was it horrifying this horrible creature will be living with me? This bucked tooth, zit face, glasses wearing freak! and then Lily my best friend asks what I'm talking about and why I'm being mean but for your information (I'm not this mean I'm just not too thrilled about this.) I apologize to Lily for my behavior and she laughs and walks off as the bell rings we finish our day and it's finally time for cheer practice. As me and Lily walk to practice I stress to her how much I am so not excited for this. "He's going to have to sit with us during lunch cause he won't know anyone, OH MY GOSH! Then Lily says "calm down he was only 12." And tell her yeah. That was only 4 years ago I bet nothing has changed. As practice starts all I think about is this Alex boy coming into my life. I couldn't land any of my round off back hand springs and I was sent home because "I wasn't focused" I called my mom to come get me and we drove to Sonic she says "you know, don't be to hard on Alex he's gonna miss all his friends and the games" and I laugh and say "what, his checkers matches?" She looks at me and giggles with a confused face. We go home and she gets a phone call from John and he says he's with Alex and they're almost here. I try to escape and go upstairs but mom stops me I hear the door bell and my heart is racing she says " well go open it" and I open the door and I was completely shocked as I drop my cup of soda from sonic..... I should probably stop doing that.
