be careful in the dark

You woke up to the bell that sounded that it was time to wake up. You didn't like that bell.

The sun was just rising, and it was absolutely beautiful. Too bad you didn't enjoy it because you were not a morning person. At all.

Tailor and Mady were already awake and drowsily getting ready. You walked into the bathroom t discover that your hair was a complete mess. Stupid humidity. You were just thankful for not wearing makeup the night before, otherwise it would be all over your face because you always forgot to take it off before bed.

It was safe to say that your hair was a rats nest and because you have curly hair, brushing it would make it even worse. (I can personally relate to that lol)

You decided that you would not brush your hair today and wash it tonight. You threw it up in a messy bun and threw on a The 1975 tee shirt and a pair of jean shorts. You decided to put on a little mascara today, but nothing more because it was supposed to be really hot today.

Once you, Tailor, and Mady were ready, you walked out of the cabin and headed for the dining hall.

You hadn't seen Ashton yet, so you assumed he was already there, and you were right.

He saved you a seat and a bagel next to him and once he saw you, he couldn't stop smiling.

"How did you sleep?", Ashton asked you.

"Pretty good, but I miss my bed at home. I never realized how comfortable it was until I slept on something about as hard as the ground."

Breakfast was filled with some more questions about background and family. You hoped that these would be the last of them considering you didn't really like answering questions.

"Okay so what are we doing today?"

"Well, we could go swimming. Or we could go to archery, or play football , or-"

I cut Mady off, "Woah, slow down. Lets just pick one, yeah?"

"I think swimming sounds fun.", said Tailor.

"Alright then, we'll go swimming.", I said.

"Ashton do u and your cabin mates want to join?", asked Mady.

"Yeah sure. Why not.", he said then giggled.

That damn giggle.

Once we were done with breakfast, we all walked back to the cabins and changed into our swimming suits and cover-ups. I didn't feel like digging though my bag to get a cover up, so I just pulled out a long shirt that was on the top.

We met the boys in front of their cabin and started to walk towards the lake.

Once we got there, everyone threw off their cover-ups and shirts and jumped in, not really caring about the temperature.

"Sh!t that was a bad idea!", said one of Ashton's roommates. I think his name was Luke.

Before I could laugh, I got pulled under by something. I didn't know what, all I knew was that I was under water. I was held there for a while until I started to black out. Something pulled me up to the surface I took quick short breaths in order to help my breathing pattern return to normal. Only it wasn't working.

Someone was holding me the entire time, I didn't know who but I was grateful that they were there, or else I would have sunk under again.

"Just take some deep breaths with me okay? In... and out..."

I recognized the voice as Ashton's, and I turned around in his arms to face him. I felt safe in his arms, like nothing could ever hurt me.

I just wrapped myself around him and buried my head in the crook of his neck.
