It's David's birthday. I can't wait to not surprise him, not scream happy birthday, not give them a complicated hard, not play loud music, not jump around, not touch him, but give him that same gift I gave them every year before this one. The present is a black T-shirt. He always loved it, when ever he unwrapped it his face would glow with amazement. I couldn't stop smiling, he had his moment with the shirt for 30 minutes and then he pointed to the door. We all went outside and he laid on the ground and stared at the sky. Drifting off the blue-and-white he said, "fly". Nobody heard it except me, I was sitting beside him, and everyone else was laying in the yard looking up too. Then he heard something, I heard something...someone. It was the kids from school coming as if they had been invited to David's party.
David was scared and started flapping his arms and shaking his head meaning, " No". He knew something was wrong and I knew something was wrong. Kevin, the most obeyed kid in the third grade was leading the group of kids. He started marching closer to David and I. David was still freaking out, I tried to calm him with my soothing voice. I was trying not to touch him, trying not to tell, but I couldn't stop him from being scared. I was scared for him, just to see all of those kids coming closer, and closer, and closer. I would have cried with him but I needed to stand up to these shits for him. As I stood up Kevin stood in front of me and said, "MOVE!", of course in my head I was running away screaming but u had to stand up for David. " NO!", I said but it didn't scare him off and he pushed me to the ground. David was sad to see me hurt so he put his hand on my back and said, "no...more...saddy". I was amazed, we all were, David just said more than one word and he touched me. He never touches anyone. Ever. But Kevin was still here and was focusing on David now. All I could think was what would happen, then I stopped thinking about it. Kevin walked to David and pushed his head down. David couldn't move and Kevin ran off laughing with his crew. I was scared and I was crying. But know one knew what David just went through, the only thing that went through him was his last breath.
