Splash!!!
The shore woke up to that strong slap.... Then a cold stream of water smoothed her gentle face."Are you okay?" It was the wave.
"Was that you?" She asked, feeling a bit hurt.
"No. I- I'm sorry. Those are my brothers. They just passed through."
"Passed through?"
"Yes. I think they're lost trying to chase the storm."
"Hmm. I see." The shore was quiet for some time.
"I used to travel with them." He rolled near the shore again. He was trying to pull the shore closer to him which was useless because she could never be moved, or so she thought. But as he was rolling back and forth, he took sand particles from her. At least that was enough for him to feel her.
"I might be travelling with them again. Soon,"he said. The shore saw that he was not smiling. His face was sad and she knew that his tears had already been submerged in his body.
"Farewell then," she said.
He stared at her with longing in his eyes. And for a few seconds, his wet throat had gone dry. He poured in sticky liquid on that dry spot and swallowed."You might not understand it now," he said. "But please know that after I fight for the Storm, I will always come back here, to find peace," he continued.
The shore blinked and stared at him. Her lovely face was blown softly by the breeze. There was a small smile on her lips.
"Okay," she said quietly.
"I will always come back to you," he said, kissing her then rolling away, farther this time.
She looked at him. Her heart was pounding heavily and quickly amidst the serenity of her face. She thought of believing him, for a second. She thought that the agony of waiting would be attractive. It would be an adventure. And she believed in him.
You will always be a son of the halcyon days. You will always find me. And I will always wait for you.
The shore thought as she stared at the wave getting into the water to hide the pain of leaving.
