Safe and Sound

<Chapter 1>

9 YEARS EARLIER....

"Mommy! Mommy! Tell me the story about the Swordwielder!" Scarlett jumped up and down on her mom's lap. "Ok,ok sweetheart. Calm down. Remember mommy's got your baby brother or sister in her stomach." Scarlett stopped jumping and snuggled into her mom's side. "Once upon a time there was a man and a woman who had a baby. The baby was a beautiful young girl who grew up quite fast. Well, the father made a sword made up of all the elements. Whoever touched the sword would get the powers of the elements. They would be called the Swordwielder." Emelia looked beside her at the sleeping girl. "If only you knew. If only you knew..."

9 YEARS LATER...

"Sissy? Sissy! Wake up!" Jamie shook his sister awake. "Ugh.." Scarlett groaned. "Get up sleepyhead!" Jamie giggled. Scarlett couldn't help but grin at his weird antics. "I made breakfast!!" Jamie held up a mud pie with a stick in it. Scarlett laughed. "Oh silly. It looks delicious but maybe we should save it for a more special day." She ruffled his chocolate brown hair. "Let's go get some food." She stood up and hit her head in the top of the makeshift tent. Scarlett grabbed Jamie's hand and they rushed off to the market. Sure they lived in the forest but at least they were near to the market. "Sissy? You look like a funny monster!" Jamie laughed. "What?" Scarlett felt the top of her head and felt pieces of her hair sticking up. She stuck her tongue out at him and smoothed her blonde and reddish hair down. "Silly boy!" When they were right in front of the market, Scarlett bent down to Jamie's height. "Remember what I taught you? Take what you need, be stealthy, and most importantly don't get caught. Ok?" Jamie nodded his head mischievously. "3..2...1...Go!" They both bolted off in different directions. Scarlett grabbed apples and bread from the trays. She spotted Jamie sweet talking an old lady in giving him expensive cheese and chocolates for free. Scarlett winked at him and ran off. She noticed one of the produce guy chasing her. She ran faster and then crashed into a boy around her age. "What the tail is your problem?!?!" He yelled. "What the tail is YOUR problem?!?" Scarlett retorted. "Hey! Both of you! Stop!" They heard the produce guy yell. Scarlett glanced at the boy and under his garments she spotted a few apples. He seemed to see the same thing and smiled at her. Then they realized that the guy was aiming a magic powered gun at her full of red magic. He smirked and shot it.
