When I got shot I expected change but not in the form I was getting it. I expected a few smiles every now and then and people saying what a hero I was for saving my family. Instead I got resentment and cruel punishment for doing what I thought was right. Now ask yourself this: Did you do the right thing?

"Lily get your lazy butt out of bed and get down here. Your going to miss your bus." My mom shouts from the bottom of the staircase. I roll around in my bed, stretching, and yawning like any normal person on a Monday morning. "LILY!"

"I'm coming mom!" I shout back down to her. I blink open my eyes and see the sunlight streaming into my face. "The light it burns," I tell myself. I stare out my window looking at the frost on the trees which reflects the sunlight into my eyes. Out of nowhere my older sister comes barging in dressed ready to go in jeans, grey boot heals, a fancy looking sweater, and her purse hanging from her arm.

"You are so lucky mom didn't come up here and wake you up," She tells me while walking over to my mattress where I am currently laying peacefully. I feel her reach under the mattress. Before I can say no she turns my mattress over and I fall to the floor on my face. I let out a loud moan.

"Thanks a lot Tasha," I say sarcastically, rubbing my wounded head while getting off the floor. I grab my glasses from the nightstand and look her in the eye.

"Oh be quiet," she tells me now heading over to my closet. "Remember last time mom brought in snow from the backyard and started throwing it at you?" I smile at that memory, it was fun. "But then you got hypothermia and the fun ended." She turns back around with a outfit in hand, throwing it my way. With my delayed reactions the clothes hit me smack dab in the face.

"Would you stop doing that?" I yell at her in frustrating. The clothes fall off my face to see her holding back a laugh before she leaves.

"I'm leaving in 10, you better be ready." She tells me with a wave of the hand. Tasha leaves my room. I stare down at what she picked out; a Captain America t-shirt with skinny jeans. She knows me so well, I think in my head.

"I love you sis," I call out to her.

"You owe me," she shouts back. That's when I look at the clock and scramble to get ready.

"I don't know why you insist in taking the bus. I literally drive to school everyday." I am now sitting in the passenger side of my sisters red, GMC Acadia listening to her pester me about my daily habits. I stare out the window trying to daydream but it's hard when you have a sister nagging you every five seconds. "Lily," she shouts. "Were you even paying attention to me?" I look over at her and see her fists clenching the wheel.

"Maybe," I say a hint of a questioning attitude.

"Lily," she sighs. "Look it doesn't even matter anymore." She parks her car in the school parking lot. I can see her friends approaching the car. "Just," she sighs again and looks at me. "Just don't..." Her words are cut off by the sound of someone knocking on the window.

"Freedom," I shout, escaping the car before she could lock me in. I dash to the front doors of the school. The cool air brushes my face making me smile.

I get stuck into the crowd of high-schoolers entering the building. I try to keep my gaze from wandering but I can't when I see couples holding hands and kissing each other tentatively. I blush when a guy making out with a girl catches me watching. I continue to my locker making sure I don't knock into anyone. I pass through the freshman hallway remembering some good times and some bad times that I had last year in this hallway. I find my locker where it usually is and start to unpack.

"Lily!" I cringe at my best friend's, Beth, voice. I slowly turn around and see an angry brunette standing before me. "What is the meaning of this!" She holds up her phone for me to look at.

"Beth I can't look at anything if you keep shaking your phone." I take the phone from her and see there is a message from her boyfriend telling her that they broke up, again. I sigh and give her back her phone. I pick up my books and close my locker. "Beth I told you....." she cuts me off.

"Yes I know Lily but how can you resist a guy like this!?" Yet again she holds up her phone in front of my face, shaking it, but I don't need the image to be clear to she her perfectly chiseled chin and his emerald green eyes. We start to walk towards our first period class, history.

"B he goes to a different school now. You both knew it wasn't going to last so why do you keep playing this charade with one another?" We reach the classroom and take our seats next to one another.

"Because I love him," she says with a sad doggy face. I give her a 'are you really look' and turn to the board where the teacher started writing down notes for us to copy. I copy them down furiously but I am rudely interrupted by Beth. "He's looking at you again." She says with a smirk. I turn to face her.

"Beth we both know that he is obviously looking at you and you are to blind to see that." She looks shocked and I turn back around to face to board. I get ready to write again when my pen is snatched from my hand. I instantly look to Beth who is grinning like the Cheshire Cat from "Alice in Wonderland". I go to reach for my pencil case for another pen but that is also snatched away from me. I go to ask the girl in front of me for a pen when a eraser is thrown at me. I gasp in astonishment. I take the eraser and fling it back to Beth. That's when the pencil case war begins. We get half way through my pencil case, which is filled with a bunch of weird stuff, before we are caught.

"Ms. Carter and Ms. Rowland what do you think you are doing!?" Our history teacher yells at us. We both turn around and stare at her. I cut off Beth before she can talk.

"We're sorry Mrs. Applebum it won't happen again," Beth and I say at the same time. Realizing this we grin at one another.

"That's right it won't because your going to see Ms. Gourden in detention. The both of you," she gestures to Beth and I.

"No Mrs. Applebum I started it. Beth was under my influence." I give her pleading eyes. She gives in and turns back to Beth, "This is your first warning Ms. Rowland. Now as for you Ms. Carter," she turns back to me and hands me a pink slip. I take it and go to gather up my scattered pencil case remains. As I walk out of the classroom the class starts the lesson again and I walk the familiar route to detention.

Hey guys,
So I have a plan. I have a bunch of other stories written and I'm planning on publishing them all at once. But I'm only publishing the first chapter to see which ones you like the most so I can write more of those stories. I hope this works out. Wish me luck!!
