I wake up to the opening of my stall. I open my eyes to see the whip wielder holding a saddle and his whip. He gives me a crooked grin before yanking me out of my stall.
He slams the saddle on my back, snickering when I let out a small horse scream.
We aren't supposed to be leaving this early!! We were supposed to have a few more weeks!!!
I don't think he cares. He knows I'm weak. He just wants to escape, like me.
He kicks my sides and I take off. My muscles have become like steel, but I haven't eaten in the few weeks I was there. I could feel something spreading through my body, and it weakened me further.
There were flashing lights, blue and red. There was loud shouting, but I knew they wouldn't get to us fast enough. He was pushing me forward at such a speed that I was certain to fall.
He knew that eventually I would collapse, but that's probably what he had planned. If it's even possible, my eyes are dull to the point where there's not even a hint of a sparkle in them. My fur has turned to a rough light brown and it was rough and wiry.
My hooves were a bit overgrown and the shoe was put on uncomfortably. The saddle rode against my sides, rubbing them raw. I rushed past trees and over rotten logs. Fear was probably the only thing in my eyes, but I didn't care.
This bull of a man had even added to his weight by bringing a heavy bag. My legs were shaky and I knew that I wouldn't last much longer. I was nearing the north, by the feel of the very cold weather.
I ran until, finally, I could run no more. I fell straight to my side and on the mans legs, crushing him beneath me. He cried out in pain and started hitting me hard, trying to get me off.
No doubt that every move hurt his crushed legs. And no doubt they were broken too. He resorted to beating me with the whip. No matter what he did, he couldn't get me off.
I just lay there and took it. The thing in my body was taking over and I couldn't feel a thing. I knew that the girl would find me, because as she lay a hand on me, I felt that she was a shifter.
My body couldn't escape this retched place, but my mind could. I thought of the day everything went down hill.
Flashback
I was playing my xbox 360. I was 16 at the time and was very strong. I loved to race and run. Every time I ran, I felt like I was on the clouds.
I was about to eat something when a large knock sounded at the door. I looked to see who it was and froze when I saw the hunter. He had a snarl like feature on his hardened face.
He had a few others with him, and they all looked the same. Hardened faces with a snarl written in them. I yelled to my mom, when an explosion sounded.
The whole house was engulfed in flames and I was the only one to make it out. I had rushed back in and grabbed my sister, but before I could grab my parents, it was too late.
Their throats were slit and men standing over them. I turned and ran for my life, long with my sisters.
Time skip
We had walked for months, before Katie said she had enough. She shifted and ran, until I could see her no more. I was saddened but I continued on my way.
End of flashback
There were lights and shouts. When I have dove into my thoughts, it was around midnight. When I resurfaced, it was 3:00 in the after noon.
My body was numb and bloody from all the whip hits and punches I took. The whip wielder was also blood covered, but covered in my blood. He glared at me, and they dragged him away.
I couldn't see out of my hurt eye, so I couldn't see anyone above me. My body was sweating and burning hot, but I was freezing. I shivered and snorted, wanting to move, to get myself warm.
I felt the same gentle hand on my neck that I felt yesterday. The girl had found me!!!
"Oh no, what happened."
My knees burned and my side felt like it was stabbed a million times. My head aches and I blinked my blind eye, trying to force it to see again.
Dad, I told you to run. I wish you would have.
Who's dad? I'm no ones dad. Aren't I a normal horse?
I thought so, I don't understand this human girl. She makes no sense.
I look at her confused. I remember nothing before I was captured. I only remember the beatings and hard work. I forced myself to my feet and starting limping back to the barn.
I had to set them free. Someone tugged on my lead and I got annoyed. I snorted and pulled against her.
Dad, what are you doing?!
Who's dad? I don't know a dad. I have to get back to the barn before he beats me.
I whisper fearfully into her mind. She looks confused.
But your a shifter, your just not my dad. Who's your herd?
I knew she knew.
In the cimarron. There's a forest and there's wolves and bears. It's in a valley.
Her eyes widen at my words. She just silently pulls me along while I follow. I was just a normal horse, right?
They load me into a metal box, much like the one I was taken in. There were the neighs of the other horses. I neigh in return to let them know I'm here.
I kick against the gate, not wanting to be in here. The last time I was in here, I was taken to a horrid place. I was taken from my home and now I can't even remember my home or what it looks like.
After an hour or so, I give in and decide to rest. If this new place was anything like the torture barn, I would need lots of rest.
