Flashback

"My girl!" I shouted at the sight of my girlfriend of almost two years.

"Hey Mike." She accepted my light kiss on her cheek and sat down on the steps behind her.

"Look Stella, I gotta tell you something alright?" I announced as I set my bag down on a step below us.

Today was the day for me to tell her I love her. Telling anyone I love them has always been a struggle for me. I know, I've been dating her for almost two years, how could I not say I love you yet. But its just the way its always been for me. I cant get those three simple words out. She hasn't said it either, so I guess we're both in the minority of people to not have said it after two years huh?

"Go for it." She smiled weakly.

"We both know there's something that I've always struggled with saying to anyone, but, I think I can say it to someone now. And that someone is you." I cleared my throat, "Stella, I love you. I'm in love with you." She stood up and backed away from the stairs.

Stella just stared at me while there was a silent pause.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit. You don't feel the same way! Damn Stella why couldn't you tell me! I feel so stupid!" I shouted.

"Mikey I swear to god I love you. And I swear I will always love you. But I can't swear that I'm in love with you."

Then she was gone. That was the last time I saw her. She ignored all of my calls, never answered her door, letters, nothing. She just told me she wasn't in love with me and then she was gone.

That was day everything started to fall apart. Fuck it, that was the day I fell apart.
