CHAPTER 1: Life

POV of Marhamma (Nanny and Chief Lady to Princess Aria)

I quietly watched from the doorway as Aria twirled and pranced around the ballroom. Her large doe eyes shone out through her thick ebony hair giving her skin a translucent ‘fairy like’ glow. The corner of her lips turned upwards in a smile as she gazed out the large glass window.

She was dressed in the finest silks available, the gown was woven by the most accomplished and skilful dressmakers in the Kingdom. Being the seldom princess in the Kingdom of Kaal, these treasures had become more of a necessity. Her father was the most powerful King to ever be crowned, Maharaja RajGir Singh. He had spent hours teaching her, along with her elder brothers in the art of politics and warfare. She was educated in how to run a country and was trained to become a dedicated queen.

But Aria never wanted this life. No, she had always pictured her future to be completely different. She dreamed to act and live like a normal, average teenager. As a child she would spend hours in front of the television pretending her life was like the young girls on the programs. However there was only one problem with her dream. You see, when Aria was only five years old, her father married her to Sheikh Adham of Malmaraha, the elusive crown prince. It was arranged that on her eighteenth birthday she would be sent to live with her in-laws and her husband who was currently spending his time studying in the US.

My little Aria who had never uttered a word to her husband was to live in a free country where she could start a new life as a normal woman. My girl was to live with a man who was brought up without the restriction of status. My body began to tingle with fear. Who knows what will happen to her. She was so young and I wasn’t sure how she would cope. She had never even spoken to the man for Pete’s sake!
