Chapter Four

Axel froze halfway in the living room as he looked at his sister. Blood was running from her hairline as sweat covered her whole body, sitting heavily on her face as her breathing came in short gasps.

"I don't know what happened!" Ember was panicked, holding Ashley up, tears in her eyes. "She said she was thirsty, so I went to get her some tea. When I came back..." She trailed off.

Sebastian didn't hesitate. He walked over to where Ashley laid slumped against Ember. Rolling up his sleeves, he placed his forearm on her forehead. An irrational fear had just been confirmed in his mind. She had been poisoned. He father was a doctor and had taught Sebastian every sign to someone being poisoned. And if he was correct then Ashley wouldn't last too much longer.

"Ashley!" Axel and Ember yelled at once as she started to cough up blood.

"She has a high grade fever, slow breathing, and coughing up blood. She has been poisoned." Sebastian said calmly as he sat her up so she wouldn't choke on the blood.

"What?!" Axel growled, a murderous glare in his eyes, turning on Ember. "How the hell did this happen?!"

"I-I don't know!" She said, wide eyed, fear gripping at her.

"Damn it!" Axel yelled as he kicked the coffee table, startling Sebastian when it hit the wall.

Axel stared down at his sister. His hands balled into fists at his sides as he watcher her labored breathing. He was pissed. Ember was terrified for her best friend and just as mad. Sebastian could see it in both of their faces. He stood and went to Axel, kissing him.

"Go get whoever did this to her, you and Ember. I'll take care of her. If it gets worse, I'll taker her to the Emergency room and call Ember." He said, stepping back, his eyes cold as steel.

"I'll kill the mother fuckers who did this to her." Ember spoke what Axel was thinking.

She was no longer her usual hyper self. She seethed with hate and anger. Sebastian began to understand why everyone was afraid of them. And why every gang wanted them. They were scary as hell when they were pissed off. Ashley coughing and chocking stole his attention.

"Go!" He hollered, turning to help her.

Axel looked and Ember and nodded. With that, they both rushed out the door. Not needing to speak to know what the other was thinking. There was only one gang that could have done this. Midnight Raiders. They had always had it out for Axel, Ashley, and Ember. They tried to smear their names, attempting murder on more than one occasion. Axel growled low in his throat. A flash of the look on Sebastian's face came through his mind. The cold stare, anger, hatred, and sympathy, all in one sexy look.

Axel shook his head, needing to focus. "You remember where Midnight Raiders base is?"

"Oh yeah. The south side of town, just past the abandoned rail station." Ember smiled an evil smile. "They had better be fucking prepared because I'm not holding back anymore."

Axel chuckled. "You and me both."

They picked up their pace, dodging people, cars, and animals, turning corners with precision. They finally got to a part of town where they could jump from rooftop to rooftop, not needing to take the time to pay much attention to where they were going. Quickly climbing a ladder, they took off again. Keeping pace with each other, they soon saw the abandoned rail station. Anger flared higher than ever in their minds.

Jumping from the roof, they were met with the Midnight Raiders. "We were expecting you Axel, but not quite you Ember. How nice of you to join our party."

Ember scowled at him. "Fuck off Rick, you bastard!"

Rick Shane was the same age as Axel. His short, spiked red hair stood against the wind and he watched Ember with obsessed brown eyes, searing her every curve, biting his lip.
