*Little Wolf: Chapter 2*

It was that night when I woke to his scent. I knew who it was the moment I smelled it. My heart pounded. Why was he here? I immediately thought of Sebastian, and what I would do if anything happened to my son.

I stood up with inhuman speed, and went to my son’s room. He was still asleep peacefully in his bed. I was thankful. My heart began to slow as I watched his chest rise, and then fall.

My eyes moved as I heard a noise. When I looked over, Sebastian’s window was wide open. I gasped softly, but hoped that I didn’t wake him as I did so. Quickly, I walked over and shut the window. I decided that the rest of the night, I’d sleep in his room, beside him.

I slid into the bed, pulling his small covers over myself as well. I wrapped my arms around my son. In return, he snuggled into me, as if he knew who it was. I stroked his hair, humming the lullaby my Mom often sang to me as well.

I heard another noise. My ears perked up, and I held my son securely. I could still smell him, and I knew that he’d show himself soon enough. Hopefully, it was when someone was watching Sebastian; when I could take him down on my own.

I didn’t sleep the whole night, afraid that someone would take my baby. I guess I couldn’t call him a baby anymore. He was getting so big now, but he’d always be my baby. My heart pounded each second that I could smell his scent. It made me shiver. Why was he here?

The sun dawned. Sebastian stirred in my arms and I pressed my lips against his forehead. I could still smell the scent of the man, though. And the horrible thing was, that was all I could smell.

Sebastian yawned as his black eyes opened. He gazed up at me, a smile on his little face. “Hi mommy,” he whispered, holding onto me. I leaned down and kissed the top of his head.

“Did you sleep well, bubby?”

“Mm-hmm,” he answered, throwing his little arms around my neck. He kissed my nose with a loud giggle. “Love you mommy.”

“I love you, too, Sebastian.”

I looked at the clock. It was eight in the morning. I got up out of my son’s bed and smiled as he drifted back to sleep. He deserved some sleep on a Saturday. I walked out of the room and into the kitchen, where my Mom was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee.

“Can I ask you something?” I said as I took a seat across from her.

“Of course, Whisper,” she replied.

“Can you stay in the house today with Sebastian? I have something I need to do.” I knew that my family couldn’t keep my son safe, but I needed someone to be with him.

“Why? What do you-“

“Please don’t ask. Just trust me, okay?”

“All right, I’ll look after him, but be careful, Whisp.”

I nodded and walked out of the door, gazing up at my son’s window. As I took a deep breath, his scent stung my nose, bringing back memories; memories of horror and heartbreak.

Don’t worry, Whisper, it’ll all be okay, I thought to myself as I headed into the woods. I knelt down on all fours, sniffing the ground. The smell was stronger here; he had to be in the woods somewhere.

I tapped into the rage inside of my head, and before I knew it, I was a wolf. My senses were better now, and I’d be able to track him easily. I pointed my nose at the ground and sniffed, looking around as I did.

I stopped at the sound of a howl. I ran towards it, and stopped dead when I saw him. His shaggy, black fur had gotten longer since I last saw him, five years ago. His eyes were the same black as Sebastian’s. I walked towards him – I wasn’t afraid of him anymore. He didn’t have a hold on me anymore.

I growled, baring my teeth. Why was he here? What did he want from me? I decided that talking in person would be the best to do. I turned back, pulling on my clothes that I had brought with me.

He did the same thing. He wore a dirty pair of jeans. He looked older now than he had looked five years ago, though it was expected. “Hello, Félix,” I said quietly.

He smirked. “So you knew I was here.” It wasn’t a question.

“You don’t cover your scent well. Why are you here?” That was all I wanted to know. He had been in my son’s room.

“I came here to take my son with me,” Félix replied.

I cringed. “You’re not taking him anywhere, Félix. Just leave us be and go back to your pack.”

Félix laughed. “My pack was killed by those Vampires, five years ago. After they took what they wanted, they killed them all. I got away just in time.” My stomach churned. I wasn’t as strong as him. I couldn’t keep him away from Sebastian. “I need a new pack. What’s an Alpha without a pack?” He smiled at me and took a step closer. “Join me, Whisper.”

I shook my head. “I will never have anything to do with you. I just want to live my life with my son.”

Félix shook his head. “You forget that he’s my son as well!” He was yelling now and coming closer to me. My stomach continued to churn.

“You have no rights to him. I have raised him since he was born. You have never been here, and we don’t need you, Félix!”

His face turned red. It upset me how much Sebastian resembled him. He had every feature of Félix, and I didn’t care at all. He was my life, my happiness, my heart. He may look like a man that once raped me, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that I love him.

“We’ll see about that,” he whispered, and then he was gone. I looked around, but I couldn’t find him. All I knew was that I had to get to my house before he did.

I ran as fast as I could, my heart pounding roughly in my chest. I didn’t use the door, but jumped in through Sebastian’s window. I looked at his bed, but he wasn’t there. “Mom!?” I screamed, running down the stairs.

“What’s wrong honey?” She said. I looked around her, but he wasn’t there either.

“Where is my son? Where is Sebastian?” I yelled.

“He’s asleep.”

“No…” I whispered quietly.

I ran back up the stairs and looked in each room, searching for him. I knew Félix had gotten here before me, and now, Sebastian was gone. He had taken my son. I shuddered, sitting on his bed. I held my head in my hands.

“Whisper?” Teddy’s voice sounded. “What’s wrong?”

I looked up with tears in my eyes. “He’s gone, Ted. Sebastian’s gone.”
