I woke up with an ice pack placed on almost every part of my body and my mom in a chair next to me. She actually seemed sympathetic which was a first. I managed to spit out the words, "Don't tell dad," knowing that he would flip on me.
"He's going to find out sometime, you look so broken, go take a look in the mirror." She gestured to the mirror next to the sink which is when I remember I was still in school. I saw my normally fetus face now dis formed with multiple shades of colours. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at my matching Ohio State lock screen for the time, 11:45, school was no where close to being over. I begged my mom to go home with her, but she left for work with no word.
I eventually passed my sister in the hallway and pulled her aside to see if she could fix my face.
"Jackson what happened??!" it was nice to know that she cared for my well being, but now wasn't the time.
"Forget about that," I said, "so can you help me?" She tilted her head and her eyes lit up immediately. She grabbed my arm and brought me into the 11th grade hallway bathroom. She opened her bag and grabbed what looked like paper sheets. She stuck them on my face and applied water. After about a minute, she removed them. I looked in the mirror and saw that she decorated my face with one direction temporary tattoos. At this point, it felt like nothing more could go wrong. I picked up my bag and brought it to my next class which was Mrs.Emory's. I got there and saw that they just went to lunch, so I caught up with my other trumpet friend, Josh.
Nobody seemed to notice my tattoos, and it's not like they could see any other bruises since I changed into my black Ohio state sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. Everything was going fine until Ming Li and his gang showed up.
"Back again Kelley? What's that on your face, I knew you were gay but not like this." I stood up with full thrust. I knew I would intimidate him since I'm taller than practically everybody at my school. I could tell he was annoyed. Ming then pushed my about two feet away from him. The whole lunch room must be watching because a collective "Ooo" trailed throughout the cafeteria. I walked back up to Ming and pushed him back harder until he lost balance and fell into the arms of one of his stuntmen. Ming came running a me and swung his body onto mine, but before he landed, I put my knee up and jolted him in the gut. I could hear from behind me, "Jackson, don't do this." I turned around to see Sam. I didn't even know what to think of him anymore. I mean, his hair did have a slight swing to it, and it's hazel brown colour complimented his brown eyes perfectly, and maybe he was wearing my favorite yellow shirt of his, but he let me get beat up. "Why don't you shut up mate, like you know what you're talking about since you're too busy flirting with Jenna to notice that your friend is on the verge of breaking!" He looked hurt but was also blushing, why though. Was it because he had feelings about me too? Sam went back to his seat next to Jenna just in time for a teacher to show up. She signaled for all of to go to the office which would take up the rest of the day.
