Jack looked at Flora's hand then back at his blank page of notes. The Instructor continued on about biometrics and genetic fusion, while he continued to miss his chance.
Shifting his weight around in his seat, he inched his left hand closer to her, trying to seem as casual as possible. Desperately holding back the screaming nervousness he felt growing in his chest.
Another slow inch towards her. No longer paying any attention to the lecture. He focused all his senses on any reaction she could give off. The lights in the room dimmed and his heart stopped. If the moment was ever going to be right, it would be now!
He would be taking a huge risk, but all he could think about was her hand. Her small hand that similarly gave off the defiant attitude she is known for.
She leaned back in her seat, and brushed her hair over her right ear. His hand hesitated, and began to sweat. Straightening his back and holding his eyes fixed upon the instructor setting up his dissection tools.
This was no time for him to freeze up. She was here, and there was no guarantee that this chance will come again! His chest tightened. His feet curled. With every ounce of strength he had, he slid his hand under her's after it finished moving the hair away from her eyes. The moment her palm made contact with his, he sealed her hand in place. Their fingers interlocked.
She squeezed his hand uncomfortably, and shifted her eyes in his direction. She pouted with pursed lips and quietly sighed, "About time."
