It has unbelievably been a year since that remarkable day. If anything our souls have become closer up to the point where we have become completely reliant on each other. My family accepted her into my life as hers have done the same with me. Every day after we met at the park, we have made it our special oasis, going for picnics and talks as such. All the elderly living around and about the sunning park grounds new it was official when I traced shapes with my fingers that Charlotte elegantly carved our names into the rough bark of the large tree covering the old bench.

Speaking of Charlotte she will be picking me up in her old '69' model Camaro tonight as we are going to go on one of the many dates we have been on. It has only been a few hours since she had accompanied me to the doctors.

My mother got a call earlier in the day saying they have news for me and must see me straight away. Hearing that I called for Charlotte and we headed to the place I like to call hell, otherwise known as the hospital. I walked in wearing a displeasing frown on my face and walked out with a evident smile. The doctors have had a breakthrough and might be able to cure my blindness. All I have to do is gulp down five tablets a day and the results may start showing immediately or it will take months to start developing. It didn't matter how long it took as long as I got to see this mysterious world and my charming Charlotte.

Waiting for Charlotte I take my fifth tablet for the night, hoping they start being affective sooner rather than later. I start shuffling towards the front door, grabbing my walking stick just in case I need it. I head out and wait at the old small metal gate, desperately trying to recognise the familiar noise coming from a very specific old car. As soon as I hear it an immediate smile forms on my lips and my heart beats so fast it feels as if it's breaking through my chest. The slam of a car door closing shut has me alert until I hear the familiar heels stalking towards me. Charlotte and I greet each other with a heart-warming kiss and she starts unconsciously guides me into her wonderful smelling car.

We arrive at a very social able restraint so it would seem. People were gossiping, laughing and eating the delicious sweet aroma I could smell. The sharp stomps in the background are clear indications that there must be a dance floor.

After the astounding dinner, it only seemed right that Charlotte drove to the park. While seated in the classic car surrounded by that heavenly smell known as Charlotte's perfume, I notice different shades swimming through my sight. Colours exploding suddenly and were being brought to life. I see the shining stars above as well as houses and other humans. Realising what was going on I let out a horrifying loud scream, not meaning to startle Charlotte but of course I did. Making her look at me, running a red light and causing a head-on collision, making everything dark once again.

My eyes flutter open slowly but surely, adjusting to the lights surrounding me. My body is stiff and sore as I feel glued to the wrecked car seat. Panicking I search, looking around for one thing. I stop once I find this pair of empty, lifeless eyes, staring right through me amongst the wreckage . Her thick eyebrows lacking movement. Naturally red and luscious looking lips were open as if she was in the middle of saying something. Her hair resembled a lion mane as it was currently messily everywhere but it was the colour pink. I notice the small smile lines that have formed over time near her eyes and mouth immediately telling me she was a happy person. She has three piercings in one ear with a lip ring to top off her flawless look.

I search her eyes once again, searching for any signs of life. Any indication that I may have my soul mate back again in my arms.  I start to cry relentlessly when the reality of the situation hits me. I'm not ever going to see her with life in her eyes, never see her body move but last of all never see her face light up when I give her the ring I was going to give her tonight. I take in this image of the women I love and will forever. The first and last look I will ever get of the most beautiful person with the purest soul I have ever met.

A sudden throb from my chest brings me out of my heartbroken daze and I silently shed tears. The throbbing quickly turns into ripping with each sob and so I look down at my chest only to see bruises and internal bleeding surrounding my heart. Instantly I raise my hand to feel for any irregular lumps which in the end I find plenty. After I take a more careful feel and a quick look I am able to tell that many of my ribs have broken and have just nicked the edges of my forever lonely heart. Without double thinking my irrational idea I snatch up my walking stick, snap it in half, and spear the sharp end into my heart.

I close my eyes, saving that image of Charlotte resting peacefully as it will be the last thing I ever see while waiting for the ambulance to come rescue us. But it's too late to save those who are already dead. Finally hearing the everyday sirens come towards the scene I slip into a glowing light.

A world comes to life where Charlotte and I are as happy as can be. No vital disability in the way of our happiness. We sit there, on the cold hard bench in the shade of a large tree. The sun leaking through the treetops leaves gifts us with our own rays of light dancing across our shoulders. Holding hands and listening, observing the new world we now thrive together in.

The End.
