Chapter 2: The Gathering

Natasha Romanoff was informed to retrieve Bruce Banner from Calcutta, and Tony Stark was also informed to come in, along with Steve Rogers.

Loki was in his underground retreat where his minions were preparing the Tesseract, meanwhile, he was sitting by himself, using his sceptere bringing him to the time he encountered the Other, leader of Chitauri.

"The Chitauri grow restless" the Other stated to Loki with his deep voice. "Let them gird themselves, I will lead them in the glorious battle." Loki explained. "Battle? Against the meagre might of Earth?" the Other questioned. "Glorious, not lengthy. If your force is as formidable as you claim" Loki said turning to him. "You question us? You question him, he who put the sceptre in your hand? Who gave you ancient knowledge and new purpose when you were cast out, defeated?" the Other asked. "I WAS A KING! The rightful king of Asgard...betrayed!." Loki exclaimed. "Your ambition is little and born of childish need. We look beyond the Earth to the greater worlds the Tesseract will unveil." The Other explained. "You don't have the Tesseract yet" Loki stated. The Other got angry, rushing infront of Loki. "I don't threaten, but until I open the doors, until your force is mine to command, you are but words." Loki explained. "You will have your war Asgardian. If you fail, if the Tesseract is kept from us, there will be no realm, no barren moon, no crevice where he cannot find you". The Other explained circling around Loki, he stopped behind him. Loki had a worried expression in his eyes, like he feels intimidated. "You think you know pain? He will make you long for something sweet as pain." The Other clarified.
Loki was back to where he was, he felt more determined.

I couldn't go to Midgard because the Bifrost was destroyed, my only option left was to inform Thor, but like I said, I will not yet.

Nick Fury was gathering most of the members of the Avengers to stop Loki with his plans. Loki now has an army called the Chitauri and he will lead them and will destroy everything in Manhattan and plan to rule over so he must be stopped. So most of them were gathered together on a ship, Steve Rogers also known as 'Captain America' was introduced to Natasha Romanoff also known as 'Black Widow' by Agent Phil Coulsen. "Mam" Steve nodded. "Hi, they need you on the bridge, they're starting the face trace." Natasha informed Phil. So Phil went on his way. "It's quite the buzz around here, finding you in the ice. Looks like Coulsen was gonna swoom" Natasha formed Steve. "Did he ask you to sign his Captain America Trading Cards yet?" Natasha asked rasing her eyebrow. "Trading Cards?" Steve questioned smirking. "They're Vintage, he's very proud." She replied. They were both walking towards Dr. Bruce Banner who had know idea what was going on. "Dr. Banner?!" Steve yelled. "Oh yeah, hi. They told me you'd be coming." Bruce said shaking Steve's hand. "Word is you can find the cube" Steve said sounding assuring. "Is that the only word I'm in?" Bruce asked looking around. "Only word I care about". Steve answered. "Must be strange for you...all this" Bruce suggested. "Well, this is actually kind of familiar", Steve stated. "Gentlemen, you may wanna step inside in a minute, it's gonna get a little hard to breathe." Natasha said smiling slightly. The ship's alarm was going off. "Is this a submarine?" Steve asked curiously looking around. "Really? They want me in a submerged, pressurised, metal container?" Bruce said smiling.

They both walked towards the edge of the ship looking down. The ship was rising out of the ocean, it was a Helicarrier. "Oh no, this is much worse!" Banner yelled cheekily. Natasha lead them both to base. "Gentlemen?" Fury exclaimed. "Dr. Thankyou for coming" Fury said shaking his hand. "Thanks for asking nicely, so uh...how long am I staying?" Banner asked. "Once we get our hands on the Tesseract, you're in the wind" Fury replied. Bruce nodded. "Where are you with that?" Bruce asked sternly. Fury pointed to Phil "We're sweeping every wirelessly accessable camera on the planet; cell phones, laptops, if it's connected to a satellite, it's eyes and ears for us." Phil explained. "We're still not gonna find them in time" Natasha stated. "You have to narrow your field. How many spectrometers do you have access to?" Bruce asked. "How many are there?" Fury asked back. "Call every lab you know. Tell them to put the spectrometers on the roof and callibrate them for gamma rays. I'll rough out a tracking alorithm, basic cluster recognition. At least we could rule out a few places." Bruce explained taking off his jacket. "Do you have somewhere for me to work?" Bruce asked. "Agent Romanoff, show Dr. Banner to his labratory please!?" Fury ordered. "You're gonna love it doc, we got all the toys." Natasha said with a slight grin.

Meanwhile in Loki's Underground Retreat: "Where do you find all these people?" Eric Selvig asked. "S.H.I.E.L.D has no shortage of enemies Dr." Clint Barton replied. "Is this the stuff you need?" Clint asked. "Yeah Uranium, it's found in meteorites and forms anti-protons, it's very hard to get hold of." Eric informed. "Especially if S.H.I.E.L.D knows you need it" Clint said looking stern. "I didn't know" Eric stated. Loki was walking towards them. "Hey" Eric said smiling. "The Tesseract has shown me so much, it's more than knowledge, it's truth." He added. "I know, it uh... it touches everyone differently." Loki smiled. "What did it show you Agent Barton?" Loki asked. "Our next target" Barton replied. Loki looked at him sternly "Tell me what you need." Barton walked over to his case and grabbed his bow and flicked it open. "I need a distraction, and an eyeball."
