"These are really good. " I admitted, digging into the chocolate ice cream.
"I'm glad that you think so." Nathan gave me a boyish grin. "As your boyfriend, it would be a crime to not bring you to your love on your birthday. "
I felt my lips pull up at the word boyfriend. "Oh, but chocolate ice cream isn't my first love anymore."
"Oh, really?" He looks genuinely surprised. "What is it now that you love?"
"Not what," I couldn't stop smiling. I pushed another scoop of ice cream into my mouth, savoring the taste.
"It's you." I looked up from the bowl, giving up on fighting the smile gracing my lips. "It's you that I love more than chocolate ice cream. "
He gave me a smile that made his blue eyes shine and the dimple in his left cheek to pop out. "Now that's an achievement to me."
He jerks forward, the chair screeching against the floor.
He presses his lips to mine, then pulled away.
The kiss was short. Yet I felt the goosebumps rising on my skin. And the heavy fluttering of butterfly wings in the pit of my stomach.
"Mmm," he licked his lips. "You taste like chocolate."
I blinked.
I blinked again.
"What?" I only managed to say.
He laughs. "You're blushing."
"No I'm not!" I answered as confidently as I could, but failed when I felt the heat on my cheeks.
"I love you." He gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet that a surge of warmth rushes through me.
"I love you too." I glance at him shyly.
I will never get used to those three words coming out of his mouth.
Looking straight into his bright, ocean blue eyes which are looking at me with such happiness, and the wide smile he hung on his face, I couldn't help but think.
I'm the luckiest girl alive.
"You know," he pauses. "I never really liked ice cream. Especially chocolate."
"What?" My eyes widen. "Why?" I asked, before shoving yet another spoonful of ice cream into my mouth.
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, I just don't." He gives me a lazy smile. "I don't mind tasting chocolate ice cream on you though."
Not letting a second pass after he spoke those words, he presses his lips to mine again.
The crazy beating of those winged butterflies in my pit of my stomach starts again.
Screw the description of butterflies. It felt like freaking energetic hummingbirds.
His lifts his right hand to rest on my cheek.
"You're blushing again." I felt him smile against my mouth.
"Shut up." I mumbled, grabbing his shirt, pulling him closer to me.
