All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
*****It was mid-August, and my mom had gotten an email from my school last night about the class schedules being available. I signed the necessary form in the car in the parking lot, and hopped out, walking quickly towards the building in the hot, humid air.
"Emily, Emily Terry." I responded when the receptionist asked my name.
"What grade?" She asked, sounding bored.
"Um, sophomore." I replied after a moment of thought.
It was hard to believe that I wasn't a freshman anymore, no longer the stereotyped over-eager child who didn't know where to sit in the cafeteria or that you're supposed to stay on the right side of the stairs. The receptionist interrupted my thoughts by handing me a golden-colored paper that had my schedule printed on it.
"Thank you!" I smiled, then turned and walked out the door.
My freshman year had been fun, for the most part. My friends were great, and I had seen them a few times over the summer, between vacations and camps.
