Alika pov

I stare in the mirror. The sun was shining through the window on my naturally tanned skin. The reflection showed my medium lengthen brown hair and my lifeless brown eyes. My third layer of clothing covering my small frame or I should say my small boobs. You'd never say I was 17. I straighten out my semi creased clothes and mentally thank the person who made us not wear uniform to school. As usual, I'm late for school. I rush out of my bedroom door and grab a slice of toast from the table. "Alika, you're late-again!" my mom exclaimed and my dad shaking his head. I smile at my parents, "Bye mom and dad!" and walk out the door. "Sigh to that daughter of ours. ", I hear my dad saying. Parents, we argue a lot, but I love them.

Since I was late for school again, I take the shortcut I always take when I'm late-under the bridge. I creep slowly through the wired fence, careful not rip my layers of clothing. I finally walk under the bridge and see some of the homeless people I always see when I'm late. Some are nice and some just swear you out for no reason. I don't know why though, but that's probably what alcohol does. I walk around two blocks and see my grey school.

I'm not popular, but I'm not an outcast. I know everyone and they know me...when they need to finish their homework. I see Madison and Eric. My truest of best friends and the loveliest couple I've ever met! I'll never get over the story of them becoming well, "Madric".

Madison is what you'd call a proper nerd (her words, not mine). She was about 13 years old when Eric first saw her in his new neighborhood. She was writing in her thick diary about the new family moving into the empty house next door and how oh so cute the boy is. He was unpacking the truck filled with his family's belongings. He contemplated to go over to the girl with the thick book and try to get to know her. So he did what a nervous 13 year old boy would do and nervously walked over to her. She was so into writing about him in her diary that she didn't notice he was right in front of her. "What are you writing about?" he asked leaning down slowly and tried to look in her book. She got such a fright that she slammed her thick diary close with his nose in between the pages! "OW!!!!!!" he screamed in pain and her reaction was an uncontrollable laugh. I think you can pretty much conclude what happened there.

I met them when I came to this school in grade 9. They were friendly and told me to sit with them at lunch. Thus, resulting was a never ending friendship with them. "Hey guys." I say, waving at Eric and hugging Madison. (I refuse to hug my best friends guy, not because I'm mean, but because I wouldn't want anyone to hug my guy.) "Hey Al, late again I see." Eric said and grabs Madison by her waist from behind. "Yeah, you know the usual. I was up all night making out with a One Direction poster and it got all wet and then I got all wet and it was such a mess!" I joked. Madison burst out laughing trying to form a sentence, "Yo-your j-j-jookes always catch me off guard!" I laugh with them and we all walk to homeroom.

There he was. Christian Williams. The boy I had been crushing on since I got to this school. I remember the first time that gorgeous blue eyed boy said something to me. I never spoke to him before, however I do remember this one time I did. It was September 2014 on a Tuesday afternoon and he asked me for a pen. I only had the one I was writing with so I gave him mine. All he said was thanks. That whole day I had nothing to write with so I just stared at him during the duration of the period. I can't wait for the day Christian actually smiles at me. It would be beautiful! As always, he was sitting with Donna and Meredith, the fakest of people you can meet at South Cape High. I make my way into the class trying to catch Christian's attention but fail, due to Meredith's huge boobs literally hanging in his face. I sit in my desk and Mr. Francis walks in and takes role call. "Alika?" he shouts. I lift my hand in the air and say "In the flesh." receiving a few laughs from my fellow classmates. I put my hand down and look next to me. Madison's tongue is literally almost down Eric's throat! "Young love." I mutter and take out my book to read. "Calum Hood? Calum? Has anyone seen Calum? ", Mr. Francis asks. No one answers. "Absent again." Calum Hood. Charming for sure, but he is the boy who has irritated the absolute shit out of me for the past 2 years! Every single person in this school likes him, besides me. I can just endure him. We hardly talk and when we do, we end up arguing.

The bell rings for first period and I'm off to human studies. "See you guys at lunch." I say to Madric.
