A Year Later..."My inhaler," I gasped. Lucas reached into his pocket and handed me my inhaler. I put it to my lips and quickly took a couple drags. "Why...why do you...carry one?" I breathed. I gave back the inhaler, watching as he shoved it into his back pocket.
"In case you need it," Lucas told me. I nodded, not wanting to talk until my breath was back. Lucas patted my back before walking into his room.
"Finish your homework so we can go get food!" I called. I heard him cheer before closing his door, making me smile. I just sat there, on the stairs, still slightly out of breath. The cancer has spread throughout my lungs, making it hard to even go up the stairs anymore. Once my breathing was normal-ish, I slowly descended the stairs. I knew Lucas is probably just sitting on his bed reading a book, waiting for me to get to hungry to wait. Suddenly an idea came to mind. "Lucas get down here!"

"Oh my god," breathed Lucas. I nodded, smiling as I looked around the house. A few months back I had hunted down an alpha, informing him about our situation. He agreed, when I was ready, to give me the bite and to look after Lucas.
"Thought you would want to meet the alpha who's gonna save my life," I said. As on cue Jace, the alpha, walked in. Lucas' eyes started to glow, making the alpha chuckle. "Jace, Lucas. Lucas, Jace."
"Nice to finally meet you," Jace told Lucas. Lucas nodded and shook the mans hand. Growls ripped through the house, making me flinch. "If your brother doesn't mind, you can go join the other wolves." Both looked at me, one smiling and the other giving me a look.
"Okay," I told the smiling Lucas. He ran off, leaving me alone with Jace. Suddenly I was pushed against a wall, Jace's face inches away from mine. I only smirked before wrapping my legs around his waist.
