Alex sat on the edge of her bed staring out the window. Something felt wrong. She couldn't put her finger on it but something just felt out of place. Alex was very intuitive and always followed her gut feelings. She had been feeling this for while now but tonight it was intensified. It was very unsettling considering what tonight was. Tonight was the night of Alex's first transformation. She was a werewolf, you see. It was her first full moon turning into a wolf. She was equally excited and nervous.

Luckily, she lived in the middle of isolated woods with no neighbors,...but...what if someone decided to go camping tonight? She knew she wouldn't be able to control herself. She didn't want to hurt anybody. But at the same time, this is what she had been waiting for ever since she was little. She grew up being around other werewolves and seeing them running wild and free. Being in nature had always made her happy. It was the only place she felt real, where everything made sense. It made her feel more connected to her late family and childhood. She wanted to become a part of it and that's exactly what was happening tonight.

She wasted the rest of the day switching between excitement and nerve wracking fear. That bad feeling grew inside her getting less and less easy to ignore. She felt that if she didn't fix it she was going to explode. She paced around her room trying to make the time go by faster. She couldn't sit still. In fact, she couldn't do anything that day. She didn't eat and she was exhausted from the lack of sleep she'd had for the past few nights. She felt out of her mind. Time seemed to stand still as she waited.

Finally, the time had come.

The sun slowly disappeared beyond the horizon and lit the trees with a golden glow. It took Alex's breath away and temporarily made her forget her troubles. But reality soon took over and she realized that this was it. This is what she had been waiting for. She didn't need to think about what was to come because she was about to find out.

She opened her front door and looked out at the woods. She took a shaky breath and stepped out into the cold air. Autumn leaves crunched beneath her feet as she made her way into the trees. She wanted to go as far in as possible. When she thought she had gone far enough she stopped and stood there. The full moon glistened above her. She closed her eyes and felt it's cool rays hit her. Slowly she felt a sharp tight pain all over her body. It caused discomfort as her bones shifted and her anatomy changed.

Within a few minutes, she was no longer a human. She opened her eyes for the first time as a wolf. Her eyes glowed yellow in the darkness. She saw the forest surrounding her in a whole different point of view. She felt free. Free from the responsibilities of being human. Something felt right. Something that she couldn't quite place.

She began to slowly walk forward, Getting used to her new legs. Then, she began to sprint. Soon enough she was in a full out run. Her paws padding through the leaves and dead grass. She felt powerful and she wanted to take advantage of this new found power. She stopped for a drink at a lake. She had never seen a lake near her house before. She thought she must've gotten pretty far. She had completely lost track of how long she was running.

Her reflection showed in the lake. She stood tall and looked at her wolf figure. It looked strange. She looked bigger and more broad framed than expected. Though she thought this weird, it was just a fleeting thought in her mind as she quickly became distracted with the new world around her. All night she ran and chased animals, hearing things from a mile away, her senses enhanced. She could've stayed a wolf forever. However, her fun had to come to an end. The moon disappeared, leaving and taking her new life with it.

The next thing Alex knew she was waking up with the morning sun shining in her eyes. She recounted her memories of last night and smiled. She yearned to be a wolf again. She tried to sit up but a soreness shot through her body. It was a while before she could will herself to slowly stand. Her legs felt weak beneath her. She slowly shuffled her way back home. Once safely back in the comfort of her own house, she went to her bathroom and turned on the sink.

She cupped her hands beneath the cool water and splashed some on her face. The water felt cool and refreshing on her tired skin. Something was off, though. Her face felt...different. She looked up and what she saw shocked her. Alex yelped with surprise. She didn't look like usual. Her bone structure. Her hair. It was all different and yet similar. It was still her but...not at the same time. She remembered realizing last night that her wolf had also looked curious. The weirdest part of this was that this should have freaked her out. It shocked her but it didn't upset her. It actually felt kind of right. For once that nagging feeling was gone. This was what it was the whole time. It wasn't that something bad was gonna happen.

Alex was a new Alex. The right Alex. Finally, she'd become what she had been meant to be all along cause as it turns out, she was really a he the whole time.
