chapter 3
(A/N) let's see something from Caelum's POV
~~Recap~~
Alyx: Torva met her roommates, and became good friends with the girl, however the boy seemed wary.
~~To The Story~~
(Caelum POV)
My sister and I were making a hammock out of grasses she was growing when I smelt something strange, it wasn't a bad smell, but it was the smell of a graveyard in the fall, yet it was calming. Somehow.
smells like death. my wolf says.
death?
The door creaks open and the smell intensifies.
A young girl, about eight or nine, enters wearing a huge grin,"Hi! I'm Torva Messor, Shadow element!"
there you go, Peter, she's a shadow element. they all smell like death.
not that strongly. he growled in my mind so I shut down the connection not liking how he was judging this little girl.
"I'm Caelum, air element. And this is my twin sister, Solum, an earth elemental"
"What?" Torva asked, "No last names?" although she was clearly teasing, it hurt a bit, despite the fact that we'd never met our parents.
"We don't have any. Our parents died before they could name us and no one ever told us their names." This time Solum answered the girl's question. {by the way, when do we tell her about your furry little problem?} she asks through the twin link
[not now.]
<And I'm not a "problem">
{[SHUT UP PETER]} we yell in unison
(A/N when Solum and Caelum communicate mentally {...}=Solum [...]=Caelum <...>=Peter Caelum's wolf )
Torva hadn't appeared to realize that we had zoned out as she had paused for a moment then said, "Huh. Lollipop?" was she seriously offering us candy? we'd just told her that our parents are dead and she offers us candy? not that I mind infact...
"We like you, not apologizing for their deaths,-" Solum starts,
"We really never knew them." I finish
Torva's only comment is "Sooooo, you don't want a lollipop?"
at this point I just go back to weaving the hammock this cheerful shadow elementalist in bright colours is too strange.
says the werewolf
shut up Peter
you should tell your sister about the girl's strange scent
"hey, Solum, why don't you show Torva her room?" [I need to tell you something, and it'll look suspicious if we both zone out for too long]
{kay}
"Can you? pleasepleaseplease?" Torva seems really excitable and happy, strange for a shadow element.
"I can't say no to you, but a warning, it'll be pretty bare. We can go get you some decorations tomorrow, mmkay?" {and you'll be coming with us this time Caelum.}
"Okay!" Torva follows Solum out of the room.
~~time skip~~
"Okay, Torva's asleep, what did you want to tell me, Caelum?"
"It's about Torva." I carefully shut the door to the hall.
"What about her?"
"Her scent is strange. It's like a graveyard in the fall. Peter has classified that as the smell of death."
"Didn't you tell me that all shadow types smell that way?"
"Not this much. She smells almost exclusively this way. And yet, the smell invokes relief and calmness. It's strange."
"What else does she smell like?"
"Huh?"
"You said she smells almost exclusively like death. What else does she smell like?"
"Like time."
"Care to elaborate?"
"Like old parchment, like the sand from a sand timer. I don't know, like time."
" You described Vita smelling that way too. Like time. Do you think that they could be related?"
"Honestly? I don't know. They have different last names, so I don't think so, but, well, you never know."
We hear a timid knock from the hallway with the bedrooms. I turn around and open the door. Torva is standing there holding a teddy bear.
"Torva! I thought you were asleep!"
"Sorry Sol-Sol, I got hungry."
[Sol-Sol?]
{She gave me a nickname, I think it's sweet.}
"Aw, it's okay. We haven't had dinner yet either. I'll make pasta." And with that my twin enters the kitchen and starts to cook, growing fresh tomatoes for the sauce.
~~time skip to when the pasta is ready~~
When Torva takes the first bite her eyes go wide then she starts to cry.
"Tor, What's wrong?" Solum is troubled by Torva's reaction, afraid that her cooking is terrible.
"It,*sob* tastes *sob*like *sob*my sister's *sob*cooking. I miss her so *sob*much! we were both adopted by different families. She was the best cook ever! Her name was Vita and she was a light elemental." Torva was still sobbing but a bit less frequently now.
"Vita?" I ask.
Torva just nods.
"I think we know her. A light elemental named Vita was the one who taught me to cook." Solum says.
"Really?" Torva wipes her eyes.
"Really. You can meet her tomorrow, but now it's time for bed. Finish your pasta and I'll tuck you in."
"Thank you, Sol-Sol."
~~The end of chapter 3~~
(A/N) 757 words, long chapter. AND you got it two days early! Torva's a good actress, eh?
