Vinnie's PoV
"I wanna go home," Bambi says calmly, laying on her side.
How could she say that? She is home, here with us.
I watch the movie in her head as she thinks of 'home'.
Peaceful. Free. She made a life for herself. She misses her friends and family. She misses the beach. She wishes She could go home.
But she can't. This world is too dangerous. And Bambi is too attractive and free spirited to associate with it.
She must have fallen asleep. Vince cuddles her into his arms and places her gently under the duvet with a soft pillow under her little head.
"We've got some papers to sign," I sigh.
Vince nods whilst playing with a strand of her hair.
After a couple more seconds he smiles and follows me out of the room and to my office. We immediately sit down and start on paperwork.
About 20 minutes I break the silence between us saying, "What do we do Vince? I'm afraid that one day when we're away working she'll decide to go out on her own again, and possibly get hurt," I toss my pen onto my desk and lean back in my chair, thinking about her.
She's a fiery one. Fearless, I think. Stubborn too. I love it when she's angry though. Her cheeks get all red and her eyebrows crease. Oh I love it when she pouts too. She doesn't realize it but her bottom lip pokes out and her whole face falls while her eyes widen.
"Simple, a lock on the door. A better one that is." He relies simply, finishing a paper with his signature next to mine.
"I feel bad, locking her in a bedroom. I mean did you hear her? She wants to go home. Like to Australia." I'd never left her go but it still hurts knowing she'd rather be there than here.
"I know, I feel horrible too. But what else can we do? Let her run around the place? Let every other male look at her? What if something worse happens like she's raped or kidnapped? It's all too risky. And I'd rather cut out the middle man and just keep her were we know she's safe. Besides, she has us. Not just me, not just you, the both of us. We should be able to make her just as happy."
He has a point. The risk is something I'm not willing to take and we're her mates, we make each other happy.
I get back to work and the hours start to roll by. It's after midnight when there's a light knock on the door.
I inhale her intoxicating scent.
"Come in Bambi," Vince says.
The door opens and my little reindeer stumbles in.
"Why aren't you sleeping princess?" I ask remembering the time.
"I'm not tiered anymore," she says softly.
"I just came in here to apologize for not listening to you guys and leaving the room. I don't want you-- to be mad at me." She looks at her bare feet and bites the dead skin on her thumb.
"We're not mad at you Bambi, well I was but its not your fault. None of this is actually. If anything, it's ours for being overprotective and irrational." Vince admits, leaving me kind of shocked. He doesn't ever really admit to things.
