Today was the first day of my second year of high school, and I want this year to be better than last year, and the recent summer break. The first few weeks weren't all that interesting. But then, something happened. There was a new kid that moved here from Eaton, and he was a junior and a ginger. His name was Russell Purcell, and I knew that I wasn't good enough to be one of his girlfriends, and I knew right then and there, he had a girlfriend already. I was right, he did. It was Friday night, Homecoming Football game, he was there and he was being shy and away from everyone. I hung out with his brother until halftime, and then I looked around for Russell, but he was nowhere to be found. I asked his brother, Kenny, if he knew where he went.

I looked at Kenny and he shook his head like he knew what I wanted to say.
