<< Vaila get on that Ion cannon and fire on their tanks >> Alcatraz shouted at the engineer who nodded ran straight for the cannon. The Stygians had caused heavy casualties in the gate's defenders and their mortar fire had destroyed two out of the five Ion cannons. << Buck stop firing on the soldiers, focus on their tank crews, go find John, Kira, and work together >>Alcatraz pointed a hundred meters away where the other snipers regrouped and started firing on the tanks. << Antony don't look at me like that, go and support Vaila>> Alcatraz ordered and pushed Antony. Alcatraz himself had found along range rifle and shot at anything he saw, below the walls was hell happening as there was created something like a sandstorm from the explosions that were happening. Every soldier was firing relentlessly without particular target and almost every shot was a successful hit. The Stygian army kept on coming and firing without any stop, those who died where quickly replaced by others and their lines could not break.
Behind the sandstorm something dark started to be visible, it started to move and become clearer by the second. When it finally passed the sand a huge machine took the place of the shadow, four metal legs covered by the Stygian flag moved slowly to the gate. Its main body had a scarab form and it had a sting at its back that hammered the ground devastating the human soldiers shooting it. Now the sting targeted the gate but instead of hitting it a continuous beam was unleashed and started destroying the gate's shields, << all cannons focus on that beast's sting, don't let it shoot again >> a voice was heard in the distance saying the obvious. The soldiers now all targeted the machine's legs and sting in order to stop its advance. The shielding barrier had started to fade and nothing seemed able to bring it down << shields at 40%, shields 30%, and the shield level critical >> the base AI was heard warning. A shadow flew pass their heads and the ship 'Tranquillity' appeared shooting everything it had on the machine, the soldiers started firing with more power as their moral was now revived.
In a few seconds, the machine was destroyed and the 'Tranquillity' landed outside the wall creating a place to regroup for the soldiers down below. As the it fell apart a final beam was fired missing the gate and hitting the part of the wall Alcatraz was on creating a hole and dropping him down in front of the wall.
Alcatraz's eyes opened but everything was blurry, he could see bullets and lasers rounds flying past him. He tried to move but in vain, he started breathing slowly ignoring the noise of the fight in order to stand up. At the corner of his vision, he saw his rifle lying in a rock; he gathered all his strength and crawled to it as fast as he could but before he was able to grab it a shadow came up. Alcatraz thought that he would die at his first battle as many other of these soldiers but when this thought ran through his mind. A familiar voice was heard; << Grab your rifle and move to the ship, we don't have all day Alcatraz >> Kat said to him while she helped him stand up, he thanked her and reclaiming his strength ran to the cover of the ship.
Alcatraz had passed out for over a minute and in that time the battle was going from bad to worst, the left flank had destroyed the Stygian artillery but it cost half of them, the right flank had lost every viper tank and half of the armadillos but it could hold on. At least five hundred soldiers were taking cover behind 'Tranquility' and among them was the commander of the ship with her crew. Alcatraz took cover right next to her and started shooting, it didn't matter where he shot because the number of Stygian soldiers marching was huge.
A brute vaulted over them, stabbed a soldier with his spear next to Alcatraz, and then went for him. Alcatraz shot him but his armor was too thick to penetrate, the brute came closer screaming something at its language and raised the spear but before it could bring it upon him a blade went through the brute and he fell on the ground dead. Behind him Raxima held a sword on the on hand and on the other a pistol, she tried to talk to him but before she could speak Alcatraz stood up grabbed a shotgun and screamed; << Behind you!!!!! >>
