As they walked through a quiet street, Elsa looked at Sam's eyes as she did every day. He was his current boyfriend, and one of the thinks that she found most valuable about the teenager was that he would always try to think about everyone, as if trying to fulfil everyone's needs. As it was natural, he never managed to make everyone happy, neither her in some cases, but anyone could sense that he cared for people. This, thought the girl, was well enough.
But today what she saw was entirely different. Those were serious, sorrowy eyes. She wished she could know what was hidden in his thoughts. But if there was something she knew for sure it was that he wasn't thinking about the rest. He considering some problem. And it cerainly was not a small one.
"How are you feeling, Sam?" she said, a bit shily.
He heaved his shoulders, not saying a word. His eyes were set towards the ground.
"Come on," she told him, not letting the boy let her spirits down "you can't complain about the mates."
He didn't smile "Was everything all right?" he said, to change subject. Elsa would already know what that everything was.
"Yes, of course"
As they were chatting, the couple stepped into a park. A solid layer of tiles surrounded by tall, shadowy trees.
"But, I thought there was a demon attack. That boy Henry..." he said, as if complaining.
"True, but that wasn't a problem. He was not found dead, did he? And the people are nice. I'd like to say I've made many friends? Listen, I think they are fully apt to become the Chosen. This is the end of our mission." she sounded very secure about what she was saying.
Now Sam Tanner was flashing with anger.
"So you don't call this a problem? And, how on Earth do you believe the whole class could become the Chosen and fight against the demon invasion? Open up your eyes, they're a bunch of teens. And they are so immature!" he screamed.
Elsa took a look at Sam's eyes. Again. And she felt annoyed. Because as well as being his boyfriend, he was his superior and the one to decide if Henry's classmates could be chosen to confront the demons. And they couldn't wait any longer to make their decision. The demons from Malastrar could make a move anytime, and the world would then summit to their power if there was not anyone to put an end to them. So, to prevent Sam's laziness from ruining everyting, Elsa only had one choice.
"I'm sorry I have no option but to fight." she said, in the middle of the desert park.
