God's Flashlight

The song 'Flashlight' has such a great meaning to me. Gosh, all of Hunter Hayes' songs mean a great deal to me, but this one has a sort of hidden meaning, a beautiful, lyrical message that everyone should listen to.

'I find your flashlight.' What does that mean? To me, it's about this crazy thing called life. Life is full of good and bad, happiness and sorrow, hard times and the best of times. It's full of God's grace and God's tests, mercy and forgiveness, joy and peace. It's hard, but isn't there always a light at the end of the tunnel? Isn't there always a Flashlight for you to find?

That's what it's about. Choosing your way in life. Going the right way, towards God's Flashlight. Finding the flashlight. 'When the world's too dark, I find your flashlight.'

It's a song of hope; a song of promise. There's always a Flashlight to find if only you search for it. God is always there if only you seek Him.

"It's funny when I realize all the places your miracles can hide."

And all those hidden miracles? Isn't that the truth? Every day there's a small miracle in your life.

Don't deny it. Every day there is something to be thankful for. Maybe even just a small miracle that's really so great.

People are always searching for that big miracle that proves God's existence. But, why? All you have to do is look at all the little miracles each day to know for certain God is there and with you. All you need to do is look for those tiny miracles and realize how blessed you are.

Those miracles added up until I realized my whole life, and everyone's, is a giant miracle in itself.

I found that Flashlight that shone light on all of God's blessings.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path." - Psalm 119:105

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" - John 8:12

Jesus is the flashlight, the light of the world, the lamp for your feet, the light on your path. If you know Jesus, you have the light of life.

If you know Jesus and love Him above all else, you've found the flashlight.

"Oh, who am I?

Dust and water,
Touched by the Divine."

So many times, I feel such a strong feeling. I think, "who am I, to deserve God's love?"

We're all touched by God, we're all loved by God, and it all just seems so unbelievable. I'm left in awe, pure awe, at God's love. I, this unworthy person, am so deeply loved.

Who am I? I'm touched by God. But, oh, who am I? So undeserving, and yet I am loved unconditionally.

You are loved just as deeply by God. Who are you? You're a sinner, just like me, but you are so loved.

"Tell me who, who am I?
you keep shining on me, shining on me."

And yet, despite our sinful ways, God keeps shining on us.

Who am I?

Who are you?

We are sinners, but we are loved.

God is shining on us, and will always shine on us.

Pray to Him.

Thank you God for your unending love. Thank you for always shining on me. I know I deserve nothing, and yet You love me with Your whole heart. Thank you for everything. You are SO great. I love you.
