Once day is good and over,
And the night is now in sight.
The sun goes down beyond the brim.
Arises now the moonlight.
A visage so innocent and alone
Can shimmer delight for all to see,
Yet it illumines like the heart
Only as bright as one wishes to be.
May it shine over thee, my love.
Let it be where I ought to.
Quiet it sits as a sphere or a smile
Declaring its name as the stars do.
And may the sun rise up the morrow
With its mighty rays shining bright,
But may it bethink what once ruled the night.
It will forever be thee my love, my moonlight.
