The stone was never touched again by the family for another half a century. The kids grew up, had their own families, and life continued. James Sirius fell in love with a Ravenclaw girl from his year, Albus Severus finally admitted his crush on the Hufflepuff that he'd paired up with on a potions assignment, and Lily Luna found her match in Flourish and Botts, which she now called cliché. Most surprising of all was Rose Weasley, who caught the attention of a certain Scorpius Malfoy. Harry himself had many happy days, bliss he'd never even thought was possible when he was ten, before he knew of a world of wonder. But the days were dwindling fast, and he knew it, his time was coming to an end.
It was a beautiful day, the sky was cloudless and the sun warmed the very insides of his bones. Ginny was in the back garden playing with the grandkids, and Harry gave her one last kiss on the forehead with the biggest smile he could muster, "I'll just be in the front garden alright?"
"Alright." She smiled back up at him.
"I love you."
"Love you too, but you're not going far." She rolled her eyes, laughing. Harry took it all in, after all these years she was still beautiful. Clutching the Stone, he made his was to the front garden, overlooking beautiful green pastures.
"It's time dear." I familiar voice said, sitting down beside him. His mother came and sat beside him, still twenty one.
"I know." Harry smiled.
"The others are waiting for you," Lily's tone was almost sad, "are you ready?"
"Yes." Harry took one last glance back at his home before reaching for his mother's outstretched hand. This time it was solid. Her hand was as soft as he'd imagined, as warm as her smile.
The boy who lived, greeted death as an old friend once again.
