The voice struck her and she flinched in surprise, turning to address it as her arms were thrown up in an attempt to protect herself from another potential blow to the head. Her eyes shot closed and her brow furrowed weakly. Then, instead of another hit, she felt burly arms wrap around her thin frame. Instead of smiling and reaching out to him, she thrashed in a panic and almost managed to swing her fist at him. But she soon melted in his arms like a slab of butter on a hot skillet.
Although she hid her face in his chest, her tears still managed to fall down her cheeks and chin.
She felt sick to her stomach, not just from the disorientation- but she had just seen a dead man! Her hands were shaking, and her slender tendrils were disheveled and coming from the braid that held them together. Although she wanted to stand and run to her father, she couldn't get any feeling in her knees. "I-I.." Her words were jumbled and seemed to turn into terrified cries whenever she attempted to answer his questions.
All the poor girl could do was shake her head and glance over her shoulder at the body every now and then.
"I-I want to g-go ho-me-."
The blonde pushed him towards the exit weakly, only wanting to get away from this shop of horrors. "My head hurts" she continued, "please, I want to go home-" She finally got to her knees and the. Her feet, where she stood like a doe on ice, slipping and sliding on her unstable feet. With a numb hand, she reached up to the bump upon her head once again and touched around the large bump that was forming just to the side of her left temple. She hadn't a clue how long she had been sleeping, but judging from the blow it had been a good deal of time.
The sound of rushed feet echoed through the open doorway and she panicked, knowing exactly who it was. Three guards tumbled into the room with their swords drawn, staring at the scene. One man ran to address the body, and the other looked over to see if items were stolen. The largest one drew his sword and held it out towards the two who were cowered beside the body. "Don't move!" He roared, his stance lowering into that of a crouched Panther, ready to attack. "What happened here?" The guard demanded an answer, and it wasn't directed towards the fair skinned girl, but the young lad who held her.
"You.." The guard hissed, reaching down to grab the girl by the forearm. He pulled her harshly away from the elf, prying her from her savior. "No-" she whined, being tossed to the side where she sat up and rubbed at her knuckles which had scraped against the splintered floor.
"You did this /elf/.." The guard approached and held his sword ready. "No-" Akhira reached out to grab ahold of Vanikath once again, but was threatened by another guard who drew his sword and aimed the thing just below her chin.
Having never been threatened with such a thing before, she froze in terror and held her breath. "He came to help me- please you m-must believe me-" her cries were weakened hiccups now, but her fame still remained as red as a flame. "Shut it!" The largest one besides Vanikath barked in her direction, "Take her back to her home.. Her father will want to press charges, immediately." Her eyes widened in anger and her face paled drastically as she watched the man accusing Vanikath of this crime. "He just walked in! He didn't- somebody hit me! Not him- not him-" at this point, the blonde was pulled to her feet and yanked towards the door by the guard who had chosen to threaten her. Two others remained with Vanikath.
"You've got weapons on you-" the main guard accused the elf, gesturing to the sword in his own hand. "Vanikath!" Akhira squirmed in the guards' grips as she was dragged from the store and towards her fathers cottage. All of the sudden movements had made her vision blurred- or was that just the tears? Her skirt was covered in mud near her ankles as she was pulled through the mud. For the daughter of an important man, they weren't taking very good care of her. Unfortunately, her father was one to believe men, and Nords at that. Only Nords. The guards could have said absolutely anything and her father would have believed it, all because Vanikath was an elf. A dark elf at that.
