Chapter 2
The plane ride took a little more than two hours. At first I was nervous bordering the plane but drowsiness overtook me so I slept most of the way. For most of the ride Marie talked to Marcus, who was also on the plane along with the rest of her entourage. There were other people on the plane too, but not many because we flew first class
When the plane landed we were walked through the terminal with security around us. People saw us and immediately noticed Marie. Even though the security guards told her beforehand not to stop to sign anything she did anyways.
People took out their cell phones and cameras to snap pictures of us, but I kept my head hung low so that they couldn't see my face. The people looked like hungry zombies reaching for Marie. It was scary so I made sure to stand by the biggest bodyguard, Frank.
When we finally got to the white limo we were ushered inside. Marie smiled and waved at the crowd that had formed outside of the airport as we drove away.
"They still love me." she said excitedly to Marcus.
He nodded and said smoothly "They'll love you even more after the interview."
I sent a quick text to Connor telling him that we landed safely. I didn't feel like Marie pestering me again.
We arrived at the extravagant hotel in less than 15 minutes which was awesome because I was still exhausted. Marcus gave us a days rest, telling us he would be by tomorrow morning to get me ready for the interview.
When Marie went out (I don't know where) I ordered a large breakfast because I felt famished. After breakfast I went to sleep, not waking up till late afternoon. Marie still wasn't in the room. I can't say I was worried. Curious, maybe. It was normal for her to be gone wherever with whoever.
I couldn't stand being cooped up in the suite so I changed into a pair of simple sweatpants and a T-shirt. I took my hair out of the bun and braided it into one braid that hung down my back. Then I placed an old baseball cap over my head. I would probably be big news in New York and I didn't want a crazy mob of Marie's fans to notice me. Before I left the room I also grabbed a pair of sunglasses.
I didn't walk to far from the hotel. I tried to memorize the street names that I passed just in case I got lost. New York city was busy. Way way more than what I was use to. The little town in Georgia was so quiet. We don't even have neighbors. Here, people shuffle and bump pass me without excusing themselves. By the time I got back to the hotel the sun was beginning to set and I was once again exhausted.
When I got back to our suite the whole place was smokey. My mother was back. Along with some other people. Angela, Connor's mother was here. I can't really say I was surprised to see her. Angela and Marie are like a package deal. Even though Angela lived back in Georgia too she always went places with my mother.
When Angela's Grandfather died he left her a large sum of money since she was his only grandchild. Of course this was years before she was a dope head.
"Victoria Marie," she waved me over. Her voice sounded horrible. In one hand she held a cigarette and in the other she held a cup. Most likely filled with alcohol. I walked over to her. "Where's Connor?" she asked. Her eyes looked unsteady.
"He's back in Georgia with his dad. You're in New York, remember?" I reminded her, trying my hardest not to sound rude.
"Oh yeah," she shakes her head as if to clear the fog surrounding it. I can't say I've ever seen the woman sober.
I look around the room and see about 5 other people I've never seen before. And this is only in the front room. I dare not look in the bedrooms. Everyone has this zoned out expression on their faces. The smog clouded my mind making my head ache. I go to open the windows even though it was not much help.
