My knee bounces to the sound of Out of Time by The Stones, the sound only adding to the noisiness of the diner as I sit with Lisa, one of my friends. It is a pretty nice diner, the walls are green pastel color with a black and white tiled floor. The tables and the chair were nicely disposed scattered around the restaurant neatly, they were white and pink, respectively matched. It was usually crowded and today was no exception. The employees were running and taking requests as they struggled to satisfy everyone. Lisa was looking at her nails while I was having my milkshake.

"What do you think Jane?" She asks suddenly without looking at me but rather down at her nails. I set my milkshake on the table, clearly confused with her random question. I actually have no clue what she is talking about. I tilt my head to the side and turn my attention to her.

"About what?" I ask confused, she sighs and looks at me annoyed. Her blonde hair didn't pass her shoulders and it was pulled back in a ponytail with cut bangs covering her forehead.

"Didn't you hear?" She says looking at me like I'm dumb, i just sit there and wait for her to explain further." Eric and Brian will race against those Greasers tonight." I noticed a tone of disgust in her voice and she quickly continued. "It was Brian who set this up, you know. He wants to beat their asses." A smirk appeared on her lips as if she found it fun."Again."

The loud and irritating noise of the bell rang through the diner and I quickly turned my head towards the door the sound drawing my attention, I turn back around when it is only  Eric and Brian, Eric is a sort of boyfriend of mine and Brian is Lis' boyfriend, making their way over to us. How cliche, just as we were talking about them they appear. I roll my eyes from the irony. A glint of excitement shows up in Lisa's eyes as she started clapping drawing the attention of a few people around us. Eric kisses my cheek and a fair smile makes its way to my face as they sit beside us.

"Are you going to watch tonight, honey?" Eric asks me, bringing his hand to my hair and then pulls a strand of it behind my ear. He moves closer to me and smiles.

"I-I don't know." I say averting his gaze. "You know that I don't like when you race against them. It always ends up being terrible to each side."

"To theirs, yes." He says cockily while pulling a devilish smirk on his face, I roll my eyes. "Don't worry Jane, Brian and I will be fine." He says before standing up. "I hope I see you there rooting for me." He says staring straight at me.

"We will be there." Before I could talk, Lisa answers waving the two boys off. Eric winks before turning his back to me and then exits the diner.

I sigh as we stand.

Lis had somehow convinced me into coming with her , claiming it was going to be fun and it won't end up like it did last time I came to a race, I cringe as the memory pops into my mind but I quickly push it away. My focus going to how cold it is but thank god I had brought my warmest cardigan. I pulled it closer to my body so the soft fabric can heat me up. Donna and Kim, a few other of my friends that I've known since childhood came as well and I was glad they did. Donna has her red hair in a half up half down beehive which suits her. On the other hand, Kim remembers me of Brigitte Bardot, their beauty is quite similar and Kim has blonde hair. I spot Eric with Brian talking to Patrick who was another boy from our group which we are called "Socs" by the Greasers. I wasn't like them but still, they were my friends no matter what they do even though I usually don't exactly agree with some of the things that they do, things like these races.

"I'm excited about tonight." Kim says while fixing her dress as a smile forms on her face. "Cynthia has been talking to that Dean guy and he told her that the Greasers have a new racer. It seems like Eric and Brian will be in trouble tonight." Kim shrugs her shoulders as if the defeat of her friends wouldn't matter that much to her.
