"I hope you're ready or we are going to be late!" Kim sings in a sweet voice, not even trying to hide the excitement in her voice. I roll my eyes and I look down at my book feeling torn whether I should finish this chapter and ignore the constant knocks on my door or if I should close the book and go to Cynthia's party with Kim. The knocks continue and I groan frustrated, Kim can be annoying sometimes. I take a deep breath before carefully closing up the book and let it lay on my bed. I get up and smooth my crumpled fully-covered skirt as I quickly glance at the mirror and fix my high ponytail, leaving some strands of hair fall to my face.
"I'm coming!" I shout and I hear an exaggerated sigh from the other side. I can picture Kim taking her hands to the air and thank her beloved god since her family is overly religious.
"Thank go-" Kim says as I open the door. "Woah girl, are you trying to seduce someone?" She laughs raising her eyebrows.
"Yeah whatever." I shrug. "Did my mom let you in?" I start walking and Kim quickly keeps up the pace with me.
"That's right hun! Your mother was about to leave to meet someone and she said that I could wait for you inside."
"And you decided to annoy me and knock constantly at my door?" I ask sarcastically.
"Exactly." I look at Kim and she grins. A chuckle escapes from my lips as I shake my head and leave my house

The room is filled with tables and chairs beautifully decorated. A stage not too big nor too small is located at the back of the room where a small group of musicians are playing, adding a light air to the room where we could hear the laughter and giving a lot of space for people to dance. As Kim and I go further, I look around and recognize people from our childhood, from school, friends of my friends who didn't belong to the Socs, Cynthia's family and, obviously, people I didn't know. It was a large room where the high bordeaux curtains fell into the floor, giving a fancy look and atmosphere to the place. Cynthia likes to throw huge parties as each of our group does, but as we are all different, the boys liked to throw parties where drinking and smoking was included. I myself wasn't a huge fan of it, I'd rather go to the drive-in and have fun, read or go to a diner and just hang. Cynthia makes her way towards us, a huge smile is plastered on her face as she was having the time of her life. I quickly glance to Kim and it seems that she looks as happy as Cynthia.
"I'm so glad you two could make it!" Cynthia says as she squeezes us both in a hug, not containing the happiness and excitement that consumes her soul. She looks around and both of us do the same until her gaze stops on Donna who was talking to a girl that went to the same high school as we did. "Donna is over there and just so you know, I didn't invite Lis, Brian or Eric." Her smile drops a little and continues her monologue. "I think the rumble went so badly that Brian needed to rest for a few days. I decided to not invite Lis because she would probably freak out if she came face to face with Dean." She shrugs and I nod my head, not daring to make any question. That topic wasn't one of the most pleasing ones and I surely didn't want to talk about it.
As the three of us walk through the room, I wonder if Dean would eventually show up or not. It's hard to keep up with a way too excited Cynthia and Kim due to the high-heeled boots I'm wearing and also, it's hard to keep up with my mind. As childish as this can sounds, images of the mysterious boy from the rumble pop into my head, his vivid green eyes haunting my thoughts. The way he looked like no one could take him in on consumes my mind and I can't help but feel drawn to him in some way although I know I shouldn't.
"Dean's here." Cynthia gasps then quickly turns around. We look behind her shoulder and spot a dark haired boy wearing a leather jacket and black jeans who seems way too out of place since everyone was wearing everything but leather. The adorable red haired girl lets out a vehement sigh and looks at us with a shy smile.
