Nathaniel's eyes burst open as he awoke to dead silence. He looked at my alarm clock in panic, as he realized he was 3 hours late to school. He threw the sheets back to the foot of the bed as he rushed to get dressed. Nathaniel fumbled with his watch as he strapped it on, and it wasn't until he was racing down the steps that he realized that there was no school today.

At a more leisurely pace, they began to eat and after he was done, decided he would head out. He left a note on the table to his mother when she awoke.

"Mom, I've gone out to the park. I'll make sure to be back by midnight. If I need anything, I'll call you. Love you."
~Nathaniel
He then set out on my bike to the park. He quickly dismounted as he arrived. He parked it, then began his trek into the woods. It was a familiar path to him, but the average passerby would've dismissed it, as it was covered in patches of snow and leaves.

As they walked, looking down at the path, he heard the sound of a creek nearby. That showed he was close. As he approached, the creek grew louder, and he was closer to his destination. He looked up, and saw it. There was a large tree, with various footholds for climbing. He looked around him, and was intrigued to find a large patch of snow in the clearing.

Nathaniel walked over to it. There was thin layers of snow littered around, but it was rather focused, and deeper than usual. In the center, he found a ring. He inspected it, then shrugged, putting it on. Upon doing so, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and his knees turned to lead, as he fell to the cold earth.
