Jerry the Bulbasaur bounded happily across the snowy forest floor. Winter was here, and while he didn't much like the cold normally, this was different. It was time for the gathering of the forests pokemon for their winter celebration. The end of winter was closing in fast, and that meant spring time was not far off. Most of the friendly and non-predatory pokemon of the forest celebrated this time with a big group feeding and socialization. They gathered for two days time at the deep center of this forest every year. The years leading up to now Jerry had gone with his parents or siblings or friends as a group. But this year he had decided he would go it alone, adventure style!
However everyone warned him quite thoroughly to stick to the normal path to the event. And that no matter what he had to make sure he avoided running into any humans along the way. More than one pokemon had been captured by a trainer on their way to the gathering. It's not that being a trainers pokemon is bad, per se. It's just not a fate most of the wild pokemon of the forest wanted to deal with. If you desired that you are supposed to skirt the edges of the forest instead. Jerry didn't want to be captured just yet, as he had so much adventuring to do solo first! But he didn't think it'd bother him much either. Trainer pokemon get to travel all over the world, and they often evolve!
Jerry imagined himself as a huge, powerful Venasaur as he scampered through the snow drifts. However he was shaken out of such whimsical daydreaming when several fresh snowflakes landed on his forehead. He shivered from his nose to his bulb. It was freaking colder than a Ice pokemon's heart! He shook his head to get the snow off and ran head first into a tree in the process. Jerry was treated to the mental image of Spindas dancing around his head from the dizzying impact. He stumbled dizzily, attempting to continue walking along the path with a slight headache. After a few short minutes he regained his composure, but unfortunately he found he had wandered off the trail.
Not only that but night time was approaching fast, and Jerry... didn't exactly have fantastic night vision. Or a good sense of direction. Or insulation from the cold. Sooooo, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to do this alone quite yet. Jerry was starting to feel a tad discouraged, so to rectify this he assured himself his superb adventurers instincts could guide him. He picked a direction based on his "instincts" and walked off into the night. Completely unaware the trail was only ten or so feet behind him, covered in new snow.
